Subject: Help a Newbie! Texture Problems ...

hwrad2112 ( ) posted Mon, 06 January 2003 at 11:56 AM · edited Thu, 30 January 2025 at 10:44 PM

Hi all ... I've only been using Poser 4 for about a week now. I am having one hell of a time importing textures and getting them to "take" properly. I am currently working on a photorealistic texture I created in Photoshop using a guide. My problem is I can't get rid of Victoria's default "upper eyebrows" and lips. No matter what I do, they both show up on of my head texture after rendering! Is there some way to turn them off that I'm missing? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

You need to assign the new head texture to the eyebrows (Vicky uses a different tex file for the head). Also, be sure that the eyebrow color is set to white. I hope this helps, Ericroy

I've set the eyebrow & lip color to white, but they simply show up as white shapes on top of my texture's lips and upper eyebrow area ... How do I assign the texture to the eyebrows/lips?

Go to Materials Object Figure x (select your Vicki figure) Material Eyebrows Texture Load Then repeat for Material Lips, etc. I hope this helps, Ericroy

Ahhhhh ... Ok. Duh! Makes sense now :P I'll try that, thanks!

I see that my indentations and comments between arrow symbols were lost when I posted my last reply. So, it should be: Materials/Object/Figure x (select your Vicki figure) Materials/Material/Eybrows Materials/Texture/(your texture file)

Actually there's an easier way....Hide the eybrows, there's a morph target on victoria's head called Eyebrows gone, set it to 1.000 and that should get rid of your problem.

Ask me a question, and I'll give you an answer.

Hmm, I have Victoria 1 and I don't seem to have that morph target. hwrad2112 wants to apply a different texture. If that morph is used, will the eyebrows from the new texture file be visible? And there is still the problem of the lips.

Actually, hiding the eyebrows and then importing a new texture doesn't work ... I tried that one. The biggest problem seems to be that the "upper eyebrows" are actually 3 dimensional, and stand out from the forehead with a wireframe of their own. I'd like to simply get rid of them, like I've seen on so many screen shots of other models here at Renderosity. Obviously, it can be done ...

Actually hiding the eybrows works for me, but I would like to see a render of what you're talking about.

Ask me a question, and I'll give you an answer.

it sounds like you didnt texture the eye brows ! if you see a wire frame you skipped a part . Or you need to point your tex map to another viky tex map . I dont mean on her face i mean in the upper right hand corner of the mesh .

THANKS EVERYONE!!! I have finally achieved success (though it looks like crap because I'm an amateur). Thank you EricRoy for pointing out to this Newbie that the eyebrows and lips need SEPARATE TEXTURES loaded for them, heh. Galactron, when I set the "BrowsGone" morph as you suggested, I simply got a white eyebrow shape on top of my skinhead texture. It wasn't until I put a texture on eyebrows (same texture I used for skinhead, simply renamed) that they "dissapeared". Thanks for the info though, because this is also a necessary step (BrowsGone morph). Thanks again everyone!!! Woohoo, I just turned Krystal Steal into a Poser Model (roffffff)!!!

Set 'eyebrow' to same texture as rest of face. Set 'upper eyebrow' to full transparancy with no transmap. At this point even if you switch textures, the upper eyebrows will stay gone. That should do it :)

Congratulations hwrad2112! I'm glad you had success. YAY!!!
