Here's an image I made a few days ago... I like it but I'd like some other input. Sorry, this is my 3rd message in a row!

Let's see, keyhole, lion, ocean, rock, clouds...you haven't been looking at some paintings by Rene Magritte by any chance? One of my favorite artists. :^) If not, these are recurring elements in many of his paintings. As far as input, instead of the 4:3 default ratio, have you considered using one of the other settings like 17:22 (Letter) so instead of "landscape" orientation you would have "portrait". Then you could center the keyhole in the pic. In this orientation, it feels heavy on the left side, like it will tip over. I like the composition that shows through the keyhole very much.

This is not my "second childhood". I'm not finished with the first one yet.

How about rivets around the keyhole?

Actually, tjohn, I've never even heard of Rene Margritte! I'd like to see some of his work, though. The 4:3 ratio is something that I've been wanting to try out for awhile (changing it, that is). I may just take it back into Photoshop and play with some cropping. As for the rivets, they look nice on YOUR picture, AgentSmith, but I think it would look a little funny in mine. Yours looks like it would fit in an old-time scene, but I just don't think that it would keep the feel of mine.

Is that an AMERICAN keyhole? Seems such a strange shape to me............

Andini, here is a link to a good site to learn about Magritte. Although not as well known as Dali, Magritte (who was Belgian) was one of the greatest of the surrealists. After you've seen some of his work, you will understand why your pic reminded me of him. BTW, if you've ever seen the cover of Styx's album, "The Grand Illusion" or ELP's album cover that has "Lucky Man" on it (not sure of the album's title- I'll bet someone here knows), you've seen Magritte's work already. Or guys in bowler hats with apples in front of their faces. :^)

Nope I'm wrong, ....(gone Looking now) ;)

ICM: I think Brain Salad Surgery has H.R. Giger artwork. The one I'm thinking of may be their very first album, the Magritte painting has a huge dove incorporated into the clouds with the ocean below, as I recall it.

Yup Your'e right, and it was just called Emerson. Lake & Palmer. (1970)

tjohn ( ) posted Wed, 08 January 2003 at 8:19 PM

And maybe it's just called "Emerson, Lake and Palmer". Anyway, the Magritte painting in question is called "La grande famille" (The Large Family). Magritte's paintings rarely ever had conventional or even accurately descriptive titles.

Andini, How about a keyhole that looks to another keyhole that looks to yours scene? tjohn has the idea with the aspect ratio - the framing might match the aspect of the keyhole - or perhaps something on this side of the keyhole would work - a doorknob or lock or something to balance it out. Brain Salad Surgery has a specialy commissioned HR GEiger painting on it. The albumn with the Dove and the track 'Lucky Man' is just 'Emerson, Lake & Palmer'and was their 1st. I was actually in hospital being looked after by a lady who used to deliver'Meals on Wheels' to Greg Lakes' mum and dad. Did you know that it was Keith Emerson's use of the Moog synthesiser that promoted the developement of the electronic keyboards we see today...Keith being a friend of Robert Moog.

Cool, its Aslan on the waves. Gotta try something like that at home minus the large predatory cat part.
