Photography F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Feb 03 6:38 am)
If I had only the two choices above I would have to go with #2 Monochromatic Moondance. Interesting and it would show the persons abilities well. My suggestion: Images of Imaging. Shots that represent photography. Tools that we use or shots that show what we do. Perhaps shots of others shooting either street shots or photo journalism... What do our subjets/models see lookking at them? Just my 2 cents. Magick Michael
Well I'm partial to #2 myself....what does everyone else think?

My idea was to re-create a shot from your favorite movie in your own way....... My thinking being it may stretch people to actually (i)plan(i) out a photo - y'know have to really think about how it would be presented, props etc, instead of being able to use an opportunistic shot from while out walking etc. Plus, with everyone's taste here we should end up with a real diversity of films!!! (",)
I feel weird suggesting stuff, but... ...here are a few feeble ideas: (a) Motion - Kinda self-explanatory. No postwork, but capture the essence of motion. Make it evident. (b) Freeze Frame - Opposite of (a). Let the view KNOW you froze time and motion. (c) Sequence - Three frames that tell a story. No more, no less. Three frames. Otherwise, I think #1 above would be nice, but with a twist (like Alpha did to us a time or two): It must be unrecognizable "at first glance" but when explained later, you find yourself saying, "OH! Why didn't I see that?" OK, I'll shut up.
'K folks....any more last minute opinions? I need to get a contest page up it's already the 8th!! Yikes!.....I'm counting votes tomorrow.....

Guess you got to decide, 'Chelle. [It's hell being Queen!] How bout an extention til Feb.15th? I'm pretty busy as it is, and may not be able to participate in any case, so don't weight this vote too much. But it is already the eighth... Black Cat in a coal bin at midnight of a cloudy evening... I'm set!

This month I can't seem to think straight so I am digging into Alpha's concept list that starshuffler and I inherited from him when he passed the torch....here are some ideas...some of these may have been done before? I've been here well over a year now, so it should be OK to re-do concepts that newer people have missed...... 1. Non-objective... Reality Beyond Recognition Non-objective art has no recognizable subject matter. It is void of anything that represents a recognizable object such as a house, trees, people, etc. This is a great area to experiment with for moving for beyond traditional capture of what is there, and into creating a vision that can evoke emotion by letting the viewer reach inside your imagination. 2. Monochromatic Moondance... Exploring Color and Light Choose a dominant color and go for it... e.g. White eggs on a white bed sheet, red rose on a red satin pillow, gold jewelry on a gold scarf, etc. The idea is to make an image that exemplifies the subtle differences in hue, saturation and tonality by using members of the same color family. Ok so there are two.....Jordy also mentioned doing something about a favorite movie? Jordy, if you read this could you please repost your idea..... Also if there are any other ideas please let me know...I'd like to have a vote on these before the middle of next week so I can get the contest pages up and ready....
