Thanks to Legume's face morphs adapted from the Doc Savage character, along with some posted clothing and basic poser clothing, I've been working on Han Solo. If and when he's finished, I have to get permission from all parties involved so I could post it, but how's he looking so far?

Looking cool, but who's gonna upload it kid? You? :-) To be honest, if you post it as 'looks like Han Solo' or something similar with a disclaimer, you should be okay, Poser models are no different to the likes of fan art and fan fiction, you don't earn off it so you aren't damaging Lucas in any way. Plus Lucas seems tolerant of all this sort of thing, look how many 3D Star Wars models, fan movies etc there are and I have not heard of one instance of Lucas slapping anybody down.

Small costume nit-pick: Han Solo did not wear a standard shirt with a collar or buttons or anything. There might be a way to do it with some kind of long sleeved sweater with partial transparency map - admittedly a hassle.

you are correct. This was about as close as I could get with what I had. If someone wants to make a better shirt, go for it.

heya; he's looking a little pudgy in this shot. maybe you could turn his body (torso) invisible and squeeze the clothing in a bit?

arabinowitz ( ) posted Fri, 28 April 2000 at 5:18 PM

I did that, actually. I guess he still need a little more slimfast. I'll see what I can do...

He looks pretty great. Very handsome, and I love the forehead wrinkles!! But I think if you want to make him really look like Han Solo, you still have a lot of work cut out for you... I know it can sometimes be a royal pain, but the end product is well worth it. He's getting there, I see a resemblance, but I still wouldn't really recognize him as Han I don't think by just looking at his face. You still need to do a little tweaking to all his features. The nose and mouth and face shape still a little bit. The eyes and eyebrows still need a moderate amount of work; Han's eyes are shaped differently (I know I hate trying to change the poser man's eyes since they never want to change that much, zygote should have given them a more malleable and realistic shape.)Han's cheeks are also a little different and the bottom of his nose shaped differently. Maybe the mouth a little less frowny? And you definately need to change the coloring and the hair. Han has tiny little bangs that kinda hang over the top of his forehead a little bit and his coloring is way lighter; more olive I guess. Ok, well that is all, in my humble opinion. I am not an expert or anything. Just trying to give you some constructive criticism. I know I am trying to make a certain male character and it is hell. The poser woman is fairly easy to change, but I don't think they made the man's features neutral enough to change easily, especially the eyes and brow area... It's quite hard to get rid of that "poser" look it seems. But anyway, I still think you are doing a great job. He looks a lot more like Han Solo than some other look alikes (not han solo look alikes, but various ones) I've seen, so keep working at it, and keep up the great work!!! You will need to work on the clothing, too, of course, but I'm sure u know that. Or maybe someone will make a shirt, because it would be a nice garment for the male to have, regardless. Maybe I will, I kinda feel like it now; but I'm not guaranteeing anything, cuz I am already working on a ton of projects at once.

Thanks. Alas I wish I could take credit for any of the facial features. I got them from Legume, and I think, considering the poser dork's lack of maliability, it is a great job. All I did was dress it up. If I get enough time, I will try to work on the face, but without goo hair, I fear Han will always remain a pipe dream. Has anyone seen a Luke around?

Ankhara ( ) posted Sun, 30 April 2000 at 8:00 PM

Really? I didn't see Legume post them, but then again, I haven't really checked out the free stuff in a while. Yes, it is a great job, considering poser dork, I agree. Goo hair? What's that?

arabinowitz ( ) posted Sun, 30 April 2000 at 9:17 PM

That's the kind of hair you get when you mispell things. I meant Good hair, of course. Ah well. Everyones a critic ;-) BTW-Legume did not actually post it here. He used the Doc Savage figure available at the 3D Comic Collective and said that he would give out the Harrison Ford face pose for it. Also, try checking at the 3dCC to see if it's posted.
