Would be nice to know.

QuickConform is a tool for clothing modelers who are creating original conforming clothes. It's not meant to be a tool for converting clothes from one figure to another or to transfer morphs like Tailor. Hope that clears up any confusion. -Mark

so are you saying it CANNOT do it? It wouldn't be the first time a product found a use for other than what it was intended.

so are you saying it CANNOT do it? It wouldn't be the >first time a product found a use for other than what it >was intended. PabloS , You would have to do alot of work. A general plan to convert a clothing item from one figure to another would be as follows. 1. Scale the .obj file to fit the other character. 2. Regroup the .obj file to match the other character's groups. 3. Run QuickConform. 4. Edit the joint params. -Mark

Having it bought it today, just wanted to add how easy it is to use and the results are excellent. All that at a very attractive price. 5 star

Thanks Mark. That clarified it for me. :-)

Wadus ( ) posted Sun, 22 December 2002 at 9:42 PM

Does it take a single mesh and make it conforming? Or will it have to be cut into sections first?

the3dwizard ( ) posted Mon, 23 December 2002 at 12:05 AM

I am assuming that if you have Poser Pro or Poser 5 then you would not need this application since the setup room performs a similar function?

Phantast ( ) posted Mon, 23 December 2002 at 5:08 AM

I have the same question as Wadus. I have a garment that fits P4W perfectly, but the .obj isn't subdivided into hip, chest, etc. In the past I have just used it as a prop, and it works OK for some poses but obviously not for others. If you are telling me that I can convert it as in the illustration without changing the .obj file any, I will be a happy person (and a customer).

markdc ( ) posted Mon, 23 December 2002 at 7:11 AM

Hi the3dwizard, I'd say the advantage over the setup room is speed and the setup room usually leaves you with a bunch of non-workin g morphs and materials that you have to remove later. QC cleans them out completely in less time than it will take you to load Poser. Hi Phantast, Sorry, you have to re-group. This is a util for conforming orginal meshes that have to be grouped properly. Thanks.

Wadus ( ) posted Mon, 23 December 2002 at 5:16 PM

What I am asking is this: Will I have to have a lot of Poser knowledge to use this? I dont want to conver from Posette to Vicky. I can model the clothes but conforming them is my problem. If I make a shirt in Rhino and export it as an obj, will I have to cut it up first or will a single piece mesh work? Can I make a NEW shirt model for Vicky and use the donor cr2(I'm guessing the donor cr2 is from another shirt that fits vicky) and make my shirt conformable, without having to use the setup room or dials in poser. I have tried to make conforming models before with no luck, so hopefully this will be easy for me.

Wadus, >will I have to cut it up first or will a single piece mesh >work? You will have to group it, but if you can model in Rhino you probably won't have trouble doing this. I include a practice shirt with the program. If you look at the way it's grouped, you'll get the idea. >Can I make a NEW shirt model for Vicky and use the donor >cr2(I'm guessing the donor cr2 is from another shirt that >fits vicky) and make my shirt conformable, without having >to use the setup room or dials in poser. Yes. Ratteler, That's a good idea. I'm looking into doing something like that.

Marque ( ) posted Sat, 18 January 2003 at 8:17 AM

You include the practice shirt, but I'm trying to do a long skirt and I'm having problems grouping it. Also even though I followed your tutorial, when I load it in it's invisible. Can you give me a few pointers on why this might be happening? Thanks, Marque

Marque ( ) posted Sat, 18 January 2003 at 8:18 AM

To clarify, I show the shrugging man, I load it, and it shows that it's there in the list but it's invisible, even though I click on it and it shows in the dialog box that it's visible. So much to learn! Marque

markdc ( ) posted Sat, 18 January 2003 at 1:04 PM

Sure, Most likely you didn't name the groups correctly. You can send the shirt to me at mark@digitalcriminals.com and I'll take a look at it. If you don't want to send it just give me an idea of what your group names are and send the QuickConform.ini file from the directory where QuickConform was installed. -Mark

Marque ( ) posted Sat, 18 January 2003 at 4:32 PM

It's not a shirt, it's a skirt. I was able to do the tutorial with the program with the shirt, no problem. But with a skirt it didn't work. Put it away for a while so I don't get frustrated. Thanks for the reply, Marque

markdc ( ) posted Sun, 19 January 2003 at 12:17 PM

I'll still help you if you like. For skirts the grouping should be hip, rThigh, lThigh. Most people don't use the buttocks in skirts, so if you're using a donor it most likely has the groups I listed above. Also, you should load an existing skirt and look at how it's grouped. Usual the hip group is taken all the way to the bottom edge of the skirt. -Mark

does it do the joint parameters or do you have to do that in poser
