How do I make backgrounds for poser? Is there a way to put my figures on a background image of my own, like a .jpg or .bmp. Do I have to download any and every background I have to use. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Go to FILE --> IMPORT. There you'll find a drop down menu, and one of the options is for "background". If it's not the same size as your current Poser window, Poser will ask if you want to adjust the window. Usually best to say yes.

using the import function (wich I use sometime too) isn't the best way though- it pixilates your background- to get the best result use a flat plane primative in the props folder and apply your image as a texture- then scale it to fit- makes a much clearer background

There are several BG props that you can apply your image to and get far better results than 'importing' it. I just posted one using Nerd3D's prop, Dragon Tickler (nudity tagged however), or like geoegress said you can just use a flat plane. Also RDNA has the Cyclo Drop and here in freestuff is a morphing wall that works well too. Best to use the highest resolution TIFF or BMP rather than JPG.

Go to the terragen forum and you'll see a link to the program on the banner somewhere I think. You can make tons of scenic backgrounds with that non commercial freeware.

The Worldz 3D is really versatile and very cheap (from the store here). I also love the cyclorama coz you can get really reaslistic ground shadows and the people look like they are really in the scene (not just got a background stuck in). Finally, you can use any bitmap for a background using a graphics prog. As Poser saves a mask as an alpha channel it is easy to 'cut' the figure out of the grey Poser background and stick whatever you like behind.

you can also apply background pic to the onesided square prop.
