I want to know how to keep a body part or a person still for a set number of frames while we animate something else. ex. if i want a person to kick someone i dont know how to keep the victim still until he gets kicked

Open the keyframe graph. Use the mouse to pull a big rectangle around all the parts of the figure you want to affect, running across all the frames you want to affect. Let go of the mouse. While this rectangle is in place, go to the bottom of the graph and hit the button for "Constant". Close the graph.
