THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Feelin' Cheap :(

I'm tweaking that scene for the lighthouse I'm doing and it seems like no matter what I do I cannot get any good grass at all...I was looking for moreso weeds, etc...but having straight pointy 'grass' or 'weeds' like that is too unrealistic. I've resorted to using some grass from 3Dplants.com and it kinda makes me feel that I've cheapened the picture a little bit because I was unable to make decent grass. I've made some grass successfully using the texture editor but at the same time, it carries on that unrealistic straight up look with no directional variety? Any ideas or suggestions? MadDog31

Try Bantam3d Grass@Bantam3D.com It`s pretty good, Got the link last night from this forum. Hope it helps you :)

I downloaded that and installed it tonight after some searching...I may have to take the time and learn it one of these days...for right now I'm gonna work towards scenes that aren't so 'grassy'...hehe...this one is a bit ridiculous w/ the grass but there was nothing else I could really do. The night scene I may cut out some grass since it won't be so visible...not sure on that yet. MadDog31

Here is some grass I made with Bantam 3D, you can have any or all of it if this would help you. Each group is made up of 20 objects, so you could delete some of it, and keep the parts you like or mix and match I guess. If interested, just let me know. I could send a br4 file or if you have Bantam 3D installed, I could give you the grass file, they're pretty small. Just genaric textures/colors on this. Arleen

make a tree, make the leave shap bamboo. Make the trunk material invisible. Squish the tree down on the y axis. Duplicate, then move down so the leaves stick out of the ground. Adjust leaf size as needed.

Hi ringbearer, Could you post the Bantam grass files to freestuff? I have the program, just have not figured it out yet. Thanks! Peggy

Hi Peggy, Can you send your email address and I can email to you. There are 6 grass files in the zip, about 6k so the file size is really small. (Don't have a website). Arleen

Ringbearer, How long did it take you to make that grass? Just wondering for future reference. MadDog31

A couple of minutes really. Just read through the details and then just played with the buttons/sliders. You can get some nice looking grass just using the defaults. And of course if you want more twist/bend you can define that. It's real easy to use. Arleen
