I've had Poser 4 for a while now and I wanted to start to do some animation. Could you guys give me a few sites that contain begginer animation tutorials for poser 4.03? I am also wondering what you guys use to add special effects like music, slo-mo, talking etc.

For talking, many of us use an automated lipsync utility, like textPuppet or DAZ's Mimic software.

Music and other audio files can be imported directly into Poser and added to the animation before render-time. It's also possible to edit the rendered animation and add soundtrack elements afterwards, through third-party utilities.

I use VirtualDub and TMPGEnc (both freeware utilities) to edit my videos, adjust the frame-rate, apply filters, and perform other routine tasks.

I don't have it yet, myself, but I can also recommend Wondertouch's particleIllusion software, which creates incredible animated particle-based effects (fire, smoke, magic sparkles, water, rain, snow, etc.), which are very difficult to accomplish with Poser alone. A low-priced special edition is now available, and it's perfect for Poser animators.

Don't forget Geeps excellent tutorial at this link! There are animators both here in the Poser Forum and in the 2D/3D Animation Forum. We range from professionals to hobbiests. You're welcome to ask specific questions in either forum. Also, check out the newly opened (last Friday night) Animation Section in Renderosity's Free Stuff Area. As it grows you'll be able to identify things you want to learn about and contact those that have done them. Welcome to Animation!!!

Yeah, Mimic rocks for lipsynching, I love it. Crescent's site has a great animation tutorial: http://www.fallencity.net/lore/index.php I recently wrote a two-part article in the Renderosity Magazine (issues 3 & 4) that cover adding music, sound fx, and dialogue. Music & Sound FX - get Posertrax! (sorry, shameless plug...) There are some freebies on the Posertrax web site: http://www.posertrax.com/freebies.htm Hope this helps, if you got any questions, feel free to drop me an IM or email - I'm also working on animations. The Director's Cut and 2d/3d Animation Forum are also good places to hang out, ask questions. LD, wolf359, Bobasaur, saxon, and about a dozen or so more of us are over there a bit too. --silver

Heh, heh B - warped Posimator minds think alike, and often at the same time... ;)

Warped? I prefer to think that we operate in the "curved space" that Einstein described.

I like the curved space, especially that high bank just before the 3rd turn... :)
