I know I've changed themes in mid-stream but I was having so many problems making my "Dear John" idea work the way I wanted it to, that I scraped it for now and went with this. I'm happy with it as it is, but I'd like the group's opinion. There's still a few things I'd like to add but they're beyond my skills as yet so I'm ready to call it finished. Please...critique at will! :o) I call this "Destruction of Nature or A New Beginning" Susan

Great effect with the burning forest. Love the way it makes your eyes wonder about the image.

It's great, though somewhat pesemistic

Looks great, the dear john letter ties into it if you think about the fires around Denver last summer.

eelie, did you see my last post on your Dear John thread, with a picture I did of folded paper? (there was no response to my post, so I'm guessing not)

Maybe titling it "Deer John"? ;-)

I was immediately struck by the idea that this related in someway to the massive forest fires in Australia. Excellent piece although the lone pine to the right seems a bit to uniform in structure. The Bryster

what's pessimistic about it. Nature's way of cleaning out the old to make way for the new. I really like this one.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone. I'd already decided I wanted to work on the one background tree that just seems, well, odd to me. I'll see what I can do to the one on the right also. I'd tried to make it more irregular before but didn't have much luck (It's a standard Bryce tree from the Create menu). daverj, I did see your link (sorry for not responding...I appreciate your help there). I downloaded the paper and it's fine. My problem with with getting in the scene what I wanted and still having the letter readable. I need a viewpoint that I've not managed to find yet. I'll finish it, just not in time for this month's challenge. Ok, back to the drawing board for tweeking and then it's final post time. EEEeeeee! :o) I can't believe I'm being brave enough to post something for a challenge!

It's an excellent pic. You've captured the fire very well. Lin
