Subject: Scaling point confusion

fls13 ( ) posted Wed, 22 January 2003 at 4:53 PM ยท edited Mon, 20 January 2025 at 11:25 AM

Poser's preloaded props and figures have a scaling point that's even with the floor, or 0 on the Y axis. When I import objects I've modeled, they scale from the median point of the object, which means dropping it to the floor every time I scale it. I've also noticed that when I export primitive props that originally scale from 0.00 Y, when I reimport them they also scale from the median point. What am I missing here?

Open the joint editor and move the centre to the bottom.

No joints on the prop. But Dr. Geep's postings solved my problem. Go to show origin in objects properties and then zero out the translation dials. Thanks Doc :O)

Doesn't matter if there are joints. There's still a centre. WhatI said would have solved it right away.

Both solutions work beautifully. Like they say, there's more than one way to skin a cat. I knew the fix had to be simple, but this one was TWO simple! :O) Thanks again.

nods Another thing that JP adjusting on non-jointed props does wonderfully -- many props, on import, start out gimbal locked. Opening up the joint editor and clicking 'align' will fix this up nicely.
