THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Import size?

How big of a file can be imported to Bryce? And what's the best format for import? Thanks.

This will greatly depend on the amount of ram on your computer. OBJ is the smoothes mesh... 3DS is usually a smaller file size but will probably require smoothing.

I think it depends on your tastes. I prefer OBJ because the models are almost perfect when imported, but DXF works well after a smoothing pass.

I've good luck with .3ds and .lwo for models, so far size has not been a problem, my Bryce hates .dxf, just refuses to import 'em, oh yes and poser files are ok too...

Of the most familier formats, Bryce imports ".obj" together with their texture maps. For 3ds files you need to convert them from xyz to uvw map format to get the textures right and you will still need to work on the bump maps.
