Subject: Can't Post: Opera Test

bloodsong ( ) posted Fri, 24 January 2003 at 8:27 AM · edited Sun, 19 January 2025 at 8:04 AM

heyas; since wednesday evening, i can't make a post or reply to any posts here on rendo. (which is not 100% true, i think i managed to get two posts through, in that time.) i don't know what is up, when i hit post/reply to send my message, it just hangs. everything else is working fine. i'm in touch with the admins of rendo/bondware, but so far, no solution. i'd ask if anybody else is having the same problem, but.... if you are, how would you reply??! i'm posting this using opera, to see if it is just a problem with my netscape.

bloodsong ( ) posted Fri, 24 January 2003 at 8:28 AM

hm. well, that worked. once.

bloodsong ( ) posted Fri, 24 January 2003 at 8:28 AM

all right! 'fess up, what did you do to rendo to make it hate my ancient, wheezing netscape!?!??! ARGH!

kawecki ( ) posted Fri, 24 January 2003 at 8:51 AM

I use Netscape without any problems

Stupidity also evolves!

I have the same problem with NS and have to use IE to post. Yes it it strange. I can reply to IM's but not post to threads.

bloodsong ( ) posted Fri, 24 January 2003 at 4:20 PM

argh! and they can't figure out what's wrong, jeff? ugh :/ it all worked fine until wednesday, then poof. i hope opera 7 comes out soon.

Well.. some of the US internet root servers are under DDOS attacks. Don't know if that's the cause though...

dayglo ( ) posted Sat, 25 January 2003 at 5:58 AM

Opps my mistake it's not a DOS attack. It's a worm that exploits mySQL's security flaw.

spinner ( ) posted Sat, 25 January 2003 at 3:24 PM

MSSQL's security flaw, not MySQL I have no probs using Opera (beta 2) - take a peek in the forums, bloodS ;-) However, I did have an issue tonight with posting an image. Jeff, are there any site changes going on ? Upoad issues should not be affected to this extent by a DoS - not if they're browser specific... ~S

JeffH ( ) posted Sat, 25 January 2003 at 3:59 PM

No site changes that I'm aware of. I get the NS problem every year over two different machines.

I have a third machine that works fine with NS and renderosity. It's a really good mystery.

JeffH ( ) posted Sat, 25 January 2003 at 4:31 PM

Testing a post with NS.

JeffH ( ) posted Sat, 25 January 2003 at 4:31 PM

Okay so now NS works for me, but it hasn't in months. Strange.

If you leave these things long enough the resident frequency of the instruction path will sometimes interfere with the CPU cyclical rate. I also understand the 1's get a little tilted over onto the 0's. It's called the Zero's and Juan's syndrome, after Uri Zero and Juan Spindleburg. Have you check for sunspots lately? I'd try the IEHGOD program. It's intended to fix anything. And if you buy all that crap, I've got an "antique" lamp with a genie in it I want you to buy ;-) "Honest, I didn't change anything in the program but the comments!" ;-)

Blood- In case you haven't heard, Opera 7 is out now. Appropos of nothing, it has a style sheet mode, one of which is called Opera for 8-bit computers (see attachment). What a hoot! :) Jmahoney: :) Regards- Lemurtek

That is so cool! Not only that you still have the C64, but that Opera works on there!

bloodsong ( ) posted Thu, 30 January 2003 at 5:03 PM

heyas; if anybody cares, i can't get renderosity at all in my netscape (4.75) now. it just says '302: FOUND this page has moved here,' and clicking on the 'here' just brings me another 302 page, and the only thing that changes (apparently) is the apache server number in the corner. however, i am mostly migrated to opera now. except their mail client needs work. and their bookmarks.
