Does anyone know how to replicate the Smooth Shaded Preview with Render Options?

I've developed this figure to appear attractive purely from the smooth shaded preview. Once I'm much happyer with it in this state I will invest more time on surface detailing.

For now all I want to do is output this scene for print as a poster, to put up here in my studio for inspiration. Unfortuetly I do'nt know how to setup the Output Options to replicate the Smooth Shaded Preview! And, because Poser 5 will only allow a 1008 pixel document window, the only way I can think of aquiring a file large enough is with Photoshop. But that is getting away from 3D and may not result in as fine an image as if I were to export the same size file straight from Poser 5.

Can't you just copy the picture and save it?

Whoopsie, just read that you wanted better resolution for a poster...

I don't know about P5... but in PPP, I'd probably try rendering a 1 frame animation at "current display settings", rather than the render settings... I think... can't try it right now... at work

It also works in Poser 5. Make a single frame animation using display settings.

But the current display setting will only allow for a 1008 pixel document. How do I render current display settings at about 8000 pixels? I tried Animation>Make a Movie..., but that did'nt give me an option to increase the output size, even though I changed the movie output settings just prior. = )

you should be able to do that by rendering with the "use texture maps" and "use bump maps" options deselected. though I'm at work right now also, so I can't test it. Evo

or basically just deselect every option on the right except antialiasing, unless you want to show the aliasing.

FWTempest - Oh OK, I see now, there is a Movie Output area, in Render Options/Movie Outpu Settings... that I can enter my nimation size in! But then when I go to make a movie I notice it says Blur=.5. Wht is that? = )

compiler ( ) posted Fri, 24 January 2003 at 1:18 PM

I guess it's the blurr motion effect. Set it to 0 if you don't want any blur. Compiler

I set it up for a 8902x6120 render. Its been putting for about a couple hours now. I've opened my Task Manager several times, but it always says Poser 5 is Running. How long might this take? I've a Celeron 700 with 256MBs RAM. I let it go overnight, but then... = )

Moderatley complex 1024*768 Firefly renders take my Pentium IV 1,5 GHz 4-7 hours to complete. The best part is when you wake up and find out that the image froze at half-way and you have to redo the render all again... Never ask to much of your computer or your wife and thou shall be happy, I guess... Good night Compiler

This is a bit odd, but I can seems to get a 4000 pixel image in or around 1 min, but try 6000 or 8000 and, even with the virtual memory switched from 300-600 to 1000-2000MB(On HD1) and 0-0 to 2000-3000(On HD2), Poser 5 still crashes! = )
