Subject: Can Window Size be Saved?

moushie ( ) posted Wed, 22 January 2003 at 10:51 PM ยท edited Wed, 27 November 2024 at 2:39 PM

Is there a way to save a locked Poser 4 window size so that a scene opens up to it every time?

You mean when you load a scene file? No, I think it always changes to the size settings of the scene file. You can save your desired window size with the UI dots, however, so when it does change, you can switch it back instantly.

Too lazy to check before posting, but IIRC, when you "import" a .pz3 rather than Opening it, the window remains the same size.

What I mean is that although a window's proportions are locked, once the scene is closed the closed the lock comes off. Next time it is opened the proportions will accidentally change as the window is dragged around. I would like the window permenently locked in 3:2 proportions.

Set up your work area the way you want it, then click a "ui" dot to save it to memory. The next time you start poser simply click on the dot and the screen will restore itself. HTH John

Thanks, but that's not the point. When the scene is saved with the screen proportions locked it will anyway open again with the right proportions, so no need to use the UI dots. But it will no longer be locked.

So you want to know how to UNLOCK the window permanently? Go to the Window menu, and then down to Document Window size. Uncheck the box that says "Lock Window", and Save the file. That should do it.

No, that's not it. I want the box for WindowDocument Window Size"Constrain Aspect Ratio" to remain checked at all times. As things are, it gets unchecked on saving. Surely others must have this time-wasting problem.

I just looked in the poser.ini file and there's nothing that relates to the doc window size or constrain ratio, so you can't alter the .ini to do it. Doesn't poser save constrain ratio as part of the preferences? I would have thought it should do. mac

No, it doesn't, unfortunately; it's one of the several things you can't save, e.g. an unchecked "loop". That's why I've asked for some sort of work-around solution, if it's out there.
