Subject: Re-naming Folders Help!!

I have a MAC and can not get my V3 Body Morphs to come up in my POSE Library unless I delete the "!" from the beginning of the name. Well this poses a problem when I actually want to Inject something and POSER can't find the original file name. Can someone please explain what I need to do to sync up POSER so it looks at the right folders that I had to change? Thanks

This may be a dumb question, but did you download the mac version?! I would think that is setup to work properly on a mac?! If you got the wrong version, you could talk to DAZ and get the right one. They're very helpful. Of course they don't normally work on weekends.

Yep. I did get the MAC (.sit) versions. And I can access each of the Morphs once I change the "!". But that creates another set of problems for me when I try injecting them in POSER cause it can't find the right file name. I have re-downloaded and re-installed my DAZ Morph Paks numerous times and get the same results. And it's not just one Morph Pak.... it does it for my V3 Male Morphs and V3 Head Morphs etc... anything that has a "!" in front of it doesn't seem to want to work for me..... Ahhhhhh!!!!!

Do you get that nasty "Warning! Cannot open "...etc. dialog box? I have spent weeks trying to figure out how to make V3 work, and no matter how many times I uninstall and reinstall her morph packs, thus far, I've been completely unable to "inject" a single morph. I'm on a new iMac and it's not a question of lack of RAM. Steve at DAZ had me check how much the minimum memory allocation to Poser was and I found it was way too low....Hopefully, I reset it, but I still get the same damn message now as I did all along. It's gotten to be so depressing that I just walked away from it from awhile, but reading your message, I realize that it needs to be dealt with.....Will monitor this thread religiously.

If you rename the folders, the only issue should be the AllMorphs INJ and AllMorphs REM files. The link above features all the gory details on how to do this safely. (Actually, it's not that difficult to do.) Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info... but correct me if I'm wrong... that "batch replace text" program is for Windows only. I didn't see a MAC version. The reason why I need to change the names is because "my" POSER doesn't like the explanation point before the name when I look in the library. This is really frustrating not being able to utilize the INJECTIONS for my Male Morph Pak and All Morphs etcs...

You can open up each file in the AllMorphs INJ and AllMorphs REM folders with any text editor and do a search/replace on that file. It will take a few extra minutes as you'll have to do each file separately within those two folders, but it will work.

Could someone write a Word macro to do that? I assume macros are cross platform.

Crescent ( ) posted Sun, 26 January 2003 at 10:47 AM

Don't use Word for this! Word puts in weird code into documents sometimes. I don't know about Poser, but I've seen Word-edited files choke other programs. A macro is a nice idea, but all standard text editors, including Notepad, do a search/replace. Also, you can't guarantee how someone will want to rename the folders. Since I have P5, I made mine DAZ-V3:All Morphs INJ, DAZ-V3: All Morphs REM, etc. You'd have to do a small VB program (or some other language) to accomplish this. At that point, you might was well get some shareware or freeware that's already available.
