For those who missed the thread in which this started, here's the drawing I'm going from (my drawing, too)

Faster, faster, no breaks..keep working, finish finish... Sounds like I can't wait for this one? you'd be right. Hacker needs this dude.

_dodger ( ) posted Mon, 27 January 2003 at 4:58 PM

Yes but if I don't take breaks I can't tease you guys with the in-progress pics!

BTW, the name is from an acronym for my pet name for manga: Japanese Illiterate Commuter Comics

Mesh view so far

I'm really looking forward to seeing the completed project. A very nice design for the robot.

MachineClaw ( ) posted Mon, 27 January 2003 at 8:10 PM

in the imortal words of the Cinobites from Hellraiser, "Are you teasing us?" hahahaha. looking very nice so far. Still want that extra hand :P This bot is gunna go over very well I predict. Mike2 just screamed from my Runtime directory that he really wanted to blast holes in him with his blaster, and Vicki chimed in that she'd love a crack at the bot with one of your famous lightsabers :P sigh just have to wait for ya to finish him, I'm looking forward to him. Your really inspiring me to fire up Lightwave more and more, gunna learn this damn modeling package one of these days.

Thanks again. Here's another update.

_dodger ( ) posted Mon, 27 January 2003 at 8:52 PM

BTW, I do intend to include the right hand under a geometry dial. Like the skeleton hand positions and Mike's CHanging Fantasy Suit uses. But I'm modelling it as-drawn first, and I can clone over the other hand when I'm done. I thought about making the precision hand that's folder up in the blaster also posable and extensible, but I'm not gonna because of the amount of extra work it would take and the fact that I'm planning on putting a $5 price tag on this guy. B^)

If you need a tester.. call me..

Hmm, I'm not gonna do anything weird with this, so I'll probably do all the testing myself. Latest update.

MachineClaw ( ) posted Mon, 27 January 2003 at 11:10 PM

Looks like bot has a green earring haha. sorry. whew it's comin' right along.

Ajax ( ) posted Tue, 28 January 2003 at 12:44 AM

Weird or not, it's always a good idea to get somebody else to test your stuff. I'll vouch for lalverson. He's a good tester and he's saved me from embarrassing mistakes on more than one occasion. If you want to make sure it's Mac ready try Daio. I try to get both of them on most of my testing teams. Nice looking bit o' hardware BTW :-)

looks great! Would be cool if you'd consider possibly having different "hand" attachments that could do different things such as claws, tentacles, blades etc... to go along with the blaster.

Ajax: well, I'll consider lalverson if you'll vouch for him. I'm getting a little jaded on the whole how-to-get-free-stuff-before-it's-out thing. Course, I do have this wife who can test for me, too... B^) MC: JICC doesn't have ears. Well, he might have a mic somewhere... B^) Farside: See response 12 from me above. I appreciate the suggestions, but when notice the planned price in the message as well. Perhaps I will make an attachment set and sell it seperately.. hmm. There's a thought.

_dodger ( ) posted Tue, 28 January 2003 at 1:21 AM

Hands are a pain in the ass to model, let me just mention that!

MachineClaw ( ) posted Tue, 28 January 2003 at 1:51 AM

lol

Farside ( ) posted Tue, 28 January 2003 at 1:52 AM

An accessory pack is exactly what I was thinking of, I should have worded it better :)

CryptoPooka ( ) posted Tue, 28 January 2003 at 7:33 PM

Hurry up. :) I'm beta-testing some really nice new explosive toys right now and I'd love to get a shot at ... uh, wait, nevermind, pun intended ... at this guy.

Disciple3d ( ) posted Wed, 29 January 2003 at 9:45 AM

Ja ja jaded! Man, this looks cool. I'd buy that for a dollar, or 25. Regards, Brent

I think an expansion pack would be a great idea. Can I beta test it, too? I'd even pay a $5 beta testing fee. ;-}~

Sorry, I couldn't work on it yesterday. Head exploded from bad chicken.
