Subject: Carrara 2, is it worth the price

I have Carrara 1.01, and I'm thinking about moving up to Carrara 2! Is it worth it, and should I do it! I can get version 2 for 200 bucks with my student ID, but is it worth it!

Its worth it. But I'm sure you can get it for lower then 200 dollars. The sds and physics alone are worth it I think. But the improved raytrace renderer, GI, fixed blur, improved terrain editor, improved text editor and more just add to the bucket. You'll have tons of new toys to get to know:) go for it!

Creationengine.com has the 1.1 to 2.0 upgrade for $99. As long as you can prove you're a student you're in. For $99 it's more than worth it.

In my opinion (for what it's worth), Carrara 1 wasn't, but C2 was. Carrara 2 made significant improvements over Ray Dream and most of the programs to be had for free- C1 seemed to me to have actually less functionality than either.

I agree that you should go for it. It's worth the money for sure. It's more stable, the GI renderer, while it takes some getting used to, is great, and I like that it's now multi-processor aware on the Mac. Do it. You won't regret it. Especially for $99!

Thanks guys, you have made up my mind, I'm going for it! Thanks for all the help! Wolfman

Do they still have the same lousy interface that Carrara 1.1 has?

Poser 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Pro 2014, 11, 11 Pro

To simply say that C2 takes some getting used to is an understatement but yes I think it's worth the price. I hope you will enjoy it at least as much as I do. go for it, - TJ

I meant that C2s GI renderer takes some getting used to. If you've used previous versions, you should be pretty comfortable with it.
