First Im on a 1.6 with 484 mem (had 128 and just add another 256). I have the Fantasy Bath house with preset lights loaded and 2 (gaia for Vic 2 & RDNA beach baby) It renders fine. I than add just plain ole michael 1,2, or even Kane and it just sits at the Status bar - It doesnt stop responding it just sits there. I started it at 10 pm and went to bed at 6 am it was just sitting at the status bar - cntrl alt del showed that it was still responding. Any idea?? Thanks much ALL!

Which Operating System? If it's XP you might try increasing the size of Virtual Memory. Are you using a screen saver? If you are you might turn that off while you are rendering, I've had similar problem that went away when I stopped the screen saver from running.

Oops sorry windows ME, no screen saver nothing running in background just poser running (besides explorer and systray)

Sorry, I can't think of anything else...and I'm not familiar with WindowsME.

Are you working in Poser 4 or Poser 5? It makes a difference as to what the problem may be.

Poser 4

Darn. I had a suggestion if it was Poser 5. Were you able to save your file, reboot and try again? I've noticed that sometimes if I have rendered several times in a row, Poser slows down and eventually become inefficient about rendering (especially if the graphics are complex). I'm sure someone else has a better idea...I'm the techno-idiot of the group.

You can also get freeram program that's helpful also...It is your virtual memory.....Like dialyn said save your project restart your computer sometime this does help..and if you can increase your virtual memory in ME that's a bonus...

I tried that... only rebooted but this time I will shut down for a few.

If you wish to continue using Poser I highly recommend scrapping ME for 2000 or XP. Hell, even if you don't ever use Poser again SCRAP ME. It is THE absolute WORST operating system that Microsoft has EVER released! And that is saying something.

I personally havent had any probs with ME at all. No crashes or bugs for me.

I just had the exact same problem in P5 running XP,1.5g ram,1.6mhz. Mine had 5 figures and 7 spotlights. I increased the VM to the max and it didn't work. I think the demands placed on Poser with certain complex works may be taxing a video cards capabilities. For myself, I am going to try upgrading my video card to the new ATI 9700 pro and see if that will solve my hang up problem.
