Any Guesses, as to how many Artists visit the Poser Forum on a regular basis??

How many Poser Artists Call the Poser Forum their Home on Renderosity?
How many New Poser Members Visit Each Week?
What is the Most Asked Question of New Vistor of the Poser Forum?

How Many Poser Images are Posted on Average?
Each Week
Each Week Day
Each Week End

Help me out here Please!
Thanks Tons :)

Doesn't the Renderosity server keep track of information like that??? Are you looking for visitors that post, or just a guess as to how many people (artist and non-artist) visit without ever posting? That would be difficult for someone to determine who doesn't have access to server tracking info. What is the Most Asked Question of New Vistor of the Poser Forum? --- I would think the question be what question is most asked by new visitors???? I don't recall many questions beings asked of new visitors unless they post something interesting (which explains why no one asks me anything). In other words, I have no answers but I have plenty of extra questions I'm not using. :)

Hi LadyNimue Thanks for your comment on my discoDRAGNbabeV3 pic! I would say there are at least 20-30 names I see regularly. I've been a member since the old days when it was Willow's Poser Forum -before the days of Renderosity. There have been times when I have not participated much-and times like now when I am "back" again. Lessee about 100 per week-more on weekends. Eric

Spiritfoxy ( ) posted Wed, 29 January 2003 at 1:43 PM

smile I am a newcomer to the forums, but have been posting to my Poser Gallery for a number of months. I would think that the server tracking information would be the best benefit to your queries, unless you want to set up an actual poll. I do not post very much at all, but I do keep track of all the posts that go through the poser forum, have them delivered to my mailbox. As far as newbies asking questions, most of us are just too intimidated to ask and newbies I notice have a tendency to be ignored for the most part with most hits going to the giants of the community....just my little humble observation. So, in light of this newbies feelings and observations, there are probably a WHOLE LOT of us that view the forum posts on a very regular basis that never say a peep. not much help, but thought I would just add my 2 cents worth -^..^-~~

Why does my hair show up as dots? Where is blMilWom.obj? How do I make a BUM file? (declining)

RawArt ( ) posted Wed, 29 January 2003 at 1:52 PM

I have only been here under a year now, and visit this forum several times a day (break up the monotony of work). I can pretty well credit this forum for teaching me all I learned about poser. I probably post something here every other day...and even as a newbie I was not afraid to ask my stupid questions...that is the best way to learn i think....and more often than not someone will take the time to respond...so newbies should not be afraid to ask anything. The most common question I think would be about newbies getting stuck with mike and vickies eyebrow setting :)

Eowyn ( ) posted Wed, 29 January 2003 at 2:03 PM

I agree, the most common question is definitely about Vicki2's eyebrow settings. And I still don't understand what is so difficult about them ;)

amon_g ( ) posted Wed, 29 January 2003 at 2:06 PM

I've been a member since March of 2000, but have only recently got back into the swing of things with the release of P5 (which, for me, works like a champ). Only this month did I start posting here mainly in the gallery. And this last month I have learned a WHOLE lot due to these forums. Rawnrr sounds a lot like me - learning and breaking up the monotony:). But I do have to agree with Spiritfoxy, it is kind of intimidating if you're not a "regular"... but it seems to be the same at other sites too. I guess you just have to take that plunge and if no one replies, no big deal - eventually someone will:) Now, that that's out of the way... As far as the most asked question, again I agree with Rawnrr it has to be the eyebrows... Well back to the monotonous task know as work... ~ amon_g ~

Desdemmonna ( ) posted Wed, 29 January 2003 at 2:09 PM

I've been a member almost a year...while I'm online I usually just keep 'Rosity up in its own browser most of the day and check the messageboards or galleries infrequently throughout the day. My morning routine is... send man off to work, brew a huge pot of coffee, turn on computer, check my email and 'rosity. Nothing much to do when your waiting for a call from a temp agency :p

SAMS3D ( ) posted Wed, 29 January 2003 at 2:13 PM

I have been a member here going on 3 years, I just started to post my work in my gallery, just cause I really don't think it is worth looking at until now (and that is a maybe), I am here most of the day from 6:00am - 7:00 pm EST, checking posts and seeing if I can help someone. I do post to questions to try to answer them, but only the ones I think I can help, those I can't I don't post so not to waste space and the person's time. It is hard for the newbies to get started, but if they come they will learn, okay to keep quite and in the background, but if you gotta a question you should ask, most will get answered. I agree with Rawnrr regarding the main question about Vic's eyebrows, but also where to put the files is a biggy too. Sharen

TCSP ( ) posted Wed, 29 January 2003 at 2:20 PM

i hop between half a dozen forums myself, each having there own brand of information and circle of posters to rely on. i typically find what im looking for (assuming ive arived in search of answers) by reading back-posts and searching the forums for other assorted tid-bits that usually come in handy. so most times i dont feel the need to post, or respond to many. so all the forums i visit are home i suppose. in one fashion or another. there are names and attitudes and personalities you sometimes hafta wade through to get to information. i feel there is alot of bad writing in tutorials these days. sometimes only (computer-based) human-interaction... such as a forum, can help bring to light the answers needed to questions a newbie has. it is our most powerful asset as a progy user-base... to get in touch with other users in a descreet, non-aggresive format which allows us to be open and free to share with whomever, wherever they may be. im just here to read and learn... i have my life and friends in reality... ~;)

I've been a member for 3 years, but only started reading and posting in the forum a month ago, while I was stuck with a Poser 5 question. I really wish I had come sooner. This forum is full of charming people, always helpful and with a seemingly bottomless well of knowledge. I got an answer to nearly all my questions in no time. Really like the place. These days, the winner question is probably "what program do I need to make MAT poses"... Compiler

It would be interesting to do a test at various times of the day and various days of the week (uh, oh, sounds like I'm going back into my stats...) Your thumbnails have to be really interesting, or have big watermelons on it, to get a viewing... Compiler

Based on Rosity Time - What is the Best: Time of Day to post an Image? Day of the Week To Post An Image? What is the Best Size to have your thumbnail? or does size matter ... when it comes to thumbnail size :P ladynimue

I don't know how to maximize hits...I don't do naked people so I don't expect much in the way of views...and my best viewed graphic was a picture of grey box (go figure). I have increased the size of my thumbnails from 100x100 to 200x200 just because it gives a little more space for giving a better "teaser" for the graphic. Seems to me the question I'm seeing more and more is "help" as if the poor person has been stranded on a desert island with Poser. I wonder if, in addition to the tutorials posted on the Renderosity site, if there might be a usefulness to having tutorial links in the backroom (regularly updated, of course, because resources come and go). Glad you liked the rainbow bridge. Not much of anything, but it was from the heart. :)

Desdemmonna ( ) posted Wed, 29 January 2003 at 3:08 PM

xoconostle ( ) posted Wed, 29 January 2003 at 3:23 PM

The thumbnail thing can be sort of an art in itself, when done thoughtfully. I'd like to think that whether or not the thumbnail images catches your attention in some way is more important than size, but I do tend to use the maximum size allowed, since that makes them more "readable." What's the most common thumbnail image theme? Victoria's bosom. But you knew that. Hey ladynimue, you rock as a Moderator. Glad you're here.

ladynimue... thanks :) I was going to do a "head-on" view, but thought about the TOC ;) It was actually a quick one in response to a thread at the Yahoo Poser list asking whether Mike was gay or not, and the feminine aspects of Vic3 male morph.... Yep...I've been around a long time...even though I may get a bit punchy at times, I truly love this place....even like some of the people here... I think I have been here actually longer...back when willow first started whatever it originally was...PFO, and all that stuff...and then even before that...since Poser 1 and whatever list was in existence...can't remember..it may have been on AOL at the beginning.... Still can't use Poser worth a darn, but I have a good time :) This post is a bit off your original intent, but I just need to say its sure great having someone so positive around..thanks... You may have noticed I tend to be a bit on the negative side of some things...but we do need the devils advocate to keep everything on an even keel :)

They can make or break an image and to be honest can make the difference between people viewing or not. I have seen it go both ways. So make sure your thumbs are up to snuff :) And Always include a thumb if you want your image to be seen! Ta DA Thank you also for your kind words. Actually, for me to get a decent looking body of water is an accomplishment as it's one of the hardest things in P5 for me. I tend to Forrest Gump my way into it. :)
I tweaked a water material someone posted over at PP and made sure I had a light under the surface facing up. Then I just play with the Diffuse and Translucence colors. :)

I read all the posts and once in awhile feel compelled to put in a reply but most of the time I just lurk. I tried to keep up with the art gallery but it's so big now that I tend to miss a lot. I enjoy seeing all the wonderful artwork and sometimes I post a picture there but I'm always hesitant about doing that. I don't know why - everyone has been very kind.

Don't want to hijack the thread, so I'll be brief ;) amon_g, you said you'd like to help out... so what do you say to making some P5 tutorials for us? You get to choose the topics ;) The same goes for all of you good folks. If you think you've got a tutorial or two tucked away inside of you and you'd like to share it with us, we're more than happy to host it here in the backroom. Wanna take a sneak peek? Don't take any notice of the seriously grim banner and navigation bar, they're just placeholders. If you want some really good ones, why not have a crack at the mini contest? So much for being brief ;) Kev.

ladynimue, thanks. i have some isp server space i use to show friends my work in progress but its not capable of hosting many files. i work primarily in animation rather than still, my background being in miniature and stop motion animation. so the only images i have are single frame renders of a bigger animation. poser is just another foray in the CG realm. im not exclusively working with it. ~;P

How many regulars? about 50 names I see EVERY day. Another 150 or so that I recognize. Plus a slew of used-to-be-regulars that pop in occaisionally. I've actually been on the board since it first started, but never spoke up much in the forums :) Common question? "who are Dork, Posette, Mike, Victoria, Victor, etc. and where can I get them?" "Where can I get "x" free?" (I usually let LittleDragon get those at this point. He frightens me grin) "Why does vicky have evil eyebrows?" and of course Vicki 3 brings so many more questions with all those bloody injection files sigh We get about 100-200 posts a day, about 100 images a day (I might be off as Nimue is the Gallery mod right now). Weekends are busier, especially Sunday afternoon. I told Kev that if nobody entered the banner contest we should do it in Creepy Clown motif smirk Kev wanted Pink Pony but Nimue went screaming out into the night ... and she's such a sweetie we don't want to upset her Lyrra the Sleepy
