I joined in 2000 but didn't really start posting till later. (you C&D people were scary) ;) lol@Kendra... I've been here for about 3 years. and, i post alot....just talkative, i am. to me...the most oft asked question seems to be: when i go to put on clothing, my figure disappears. best time to post to gallery? that's a stumper.

I've only been using this user name for a couple months, but I've been a member for a couple years. When I got my new computer I couldn't remember my user name so I set up a new one. I don't post too much here, usually when I can't find an answer in a search, but I do enjoy reading the forums, and come here every day.

Tashar59 ( ) posted Wed, 29 January 2003 at 5:16 PM

I've been here a little over a year. I check the forum about 3 or 4 times a day. I've had only 1 question in that time not answered. Folks here have gone out of their way to help me with stuff I don't have the apps to do it myself. Nu-bee's should not be afraid to ask. I try to answer what I can. One of the most common questions is "out of memmory error," some file is not in the right place. Best time to post, got me on that one, is there one? Tashar 59

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Wed, 29 January 2003 at 5:19 PM

I'm here every day and have been for about a year now. Posted my first pic in May last year after lurking for a while. About at the same time I started playing more intense with MAX and I found out how to create simple things. Textures at first. The some day I decided to have a go on a so-called morphing prop. I made a crushable beer can. It got LOADS of downloads in very little time, and, as they say, the rest is history G I then became known (at least to some) as "The Queen of Trash". I THINK it is something good ;o) Newbie questions... I've seen a lot of newcomers lately, asking on how to create clothes for Poser. Also the everlasting question "why does my figure dissapear when I try to add clothes" WHY couldn't CL (or MetaCreations) have made Poser usee the doubleclick for ADDING clothes instead of replacing? That is MY eternal question to my self. Unfortunately I haven't answered it yet :o)

Been here almost daily for a year now--it's part of my routine and my 3 cats love having a lap that actually sits still available for 6-8 hrs. a day ;) Most-asked question has gotta be the Everlasting Eyebrows question. Best thing about 'Rosity for me is the fun of hanging out with other artists and learning stuff from 'em. Used to be, I would shut myself up in my studio for weeks at a time, then go to a sci-fi convention somewhere to sell my stuff, and see dozens of my buddies over 3 frenetic days, then go home and do it all over again....for like 15 years. This is much nicer :)

Firebirdz ( ) posted Wed, 29 January 2003 at 6:17 PM

I come in here almost everyday as this is one of the most briming forums I know. And of course, Poser is my favourite topic. The Cummunity is soooo helpful and alot of talented and knowledgeable people. As for Thumbnails, I like to do them 200x200 cos I'm fussy about having different sizes of thumbnails in my gallery - but that's me. I may change the size of a thumbnail though, if it gives the effect that I'm looking for. Firebirdz

I'd really like to know how many unique hits this site gets and how many active galleries? For a fact many if not most regulars have multipul nicks.

Hi Poppi I have always enjoyed your images, No Jewels No Helmet is one of my favorites of yours :) Not only are you a wonderful artist but also an excellent story teller.
The mysterious where did my people go Not to be confused with where are vickies clothes ;] is another great FAQ for the Backroom!

Welcome JohnF great to see you tonight :) I look forward to you posting some images to your gallery. Happy to have you around and thanks for being here to help out the others, that is very thoughtful of you and much appreciated.

beryld Ancient Art is wonderful, so full of mystery and wonder :)
I am so happy that you have always had your questioned asked. I think some questions just go unanswered simply by the sheer number of threads posted to the Poser Forum, as well as the time of day they are posted. Some questions, like images, just simply get lost in the shuffle.

If you every have a question that you need an answer to, do one of two things. Wait a bit and re-ask. If no one answers it again. please IM one of the Poser Mods. We are here to help :)

Hi ernyoka1 look is a wonderful depiction of innocence and wisdom. Perhaps you can give Kevin some clothing modeling tips and tricks he can use in the backroom ??

praxis22 you are most welcome, and thank you for posting. Geez if you can do that with Poser 3 I can only imagine what you will come up with next ;]

Heike your images always bring a soft smile, thank you for posting.

Patricia Well I really must insist that you post some More images to your gallery! PleaseeeeeeeeOk not Insist [that was rude] .. how about Beg ;] King of the Rock is wonderful. We are very happy to have you here as well !
How in the world do you type with three cats on your lap???

Firebirdz Your V3 bunny is a hare above the rest of the Neekid Vickies!
Very innovative and man that must have taken HOURS to render! Great job!
Great ideas about the thumbnails, thanks for the input.

I've been a regular for....eek!....I've lost track, it's been so long. I go way back to the old PFO days, before Renderosity even existed and I remember the transition of PFO into Renderosity. I come in about twice a day (morning before I go to work and when I come home). I don't think there's a day that I don't visit at least once. Melanie

I started out on the Bryce forum several years ago and was there a lot. In fact, I was anti-poser and pure bryce at the time. Now that I have poser, I'm like here every night and visit the bryce every other night. Go figure.

Been here about a year. Come here often! Learnt much/most of what (little) I know about Poser 4 here following threads. Mostly post in the (now self-help) Poser 5 Beta forum, while I try to keep the faith that P5 will work somehow, some day - not too optimistic though... 'Til then still using P4 exclusively.

Bobasaur ( ) posted Wed, 29 January 2003 at 9:10 PM

I surprised myself last night when I checked my "member since..." column. Though a member since 5/2000, I actually started spending time in the forums around 9/11. I'm here multiple times each day (which explains why it's so darn hard to get any animating done!!!). I didn't have a gallery up till the Animation Section opened up in the Free Stuff area. I added a couple of stills at that time as well just in case I needed to be a snot to anyone.

Before they made me they broke the mold!

Hi Ladynimue & fellow poser members, This is a post from a different timezone than most of you, as I live in the Southern Hemisphere, East Coast Australia, so it is hard to participate in an active thread like this (I mean when most are 'live' online)so my post will probably not get seen by most, being the next day for you all, and there will be many more newer posts by then. I have been a member since June, 2001 but have not posted except when P5 was being shipped. I do however, read the forum on a regular basis and have learned heaps from other posts with questions needing answers, sooner or later I find something I wanted to know about too. I have not posted any images purely because I have not made a good enough one I thought,(only in my own 'eye', but one day, maybe I will. I have only just now begun to delve into P5, which just sat on my computer, waiting for the 'light to come on' in my brain and begin to demystify it. I have been using what tutorials I have found so far, and look forward to more, hopefully of the 'simple' sort - do this and then do that, with steps I can follow hands on, for all the rooms, then eventually this will sink into my memory banks and no longer be "gawd what do I do now to get what I want". Hopefully when you get the Backroom up and running smoothly, there will be more of the sort of tutorials I need, and I am sure, lots of other people also need these sort to, just to get going and learning how to use P5 without being confused about all the information needed to be entered just to do something right. So much to learn. I have seen so many people come and go from here since I joined, you get to remember certain names from posts, for whatever reason people move on and new ones come in, but in all it has been a great place to be a member of, it becomes like a big diverse family spread out over so many countries, all willing to help each other out - in all a GREAT COMMUNITY. Thanks to you ALL. Cheers from DownUnder, JAN

I'm here most days, if only briefly, in between dog walking, chicken feeding, cat tending, husband placating, working (!) and fighting back the piles of housework. Been around for a year or so now, and I post pics from time to time - if I ever do anything that I'm even slightly pleased with. Haven't had much 'art' time recently - seem to have been running on the spot since Christmas without getting anywhere! I would say that 99% of what I know about Poser, I learned in this forum, just by reading the answers to other people's questions. I don't post often enough for anyone to 'know' me, and sometimes that's hard to remember when I feel I know so many people here through their posts! February resolution - to make more (some!) time for 'artsy' activities. The chickens will have to fend for themselves!

melanie Rolling in the Grass is wonderful fun. I can visualize the lion scratching his itch :) Oh, please do us a huge favor, go into your gallery and Click on the EDIT button under the thumbnails of the images that are missing (white box with red x). This will restore your gallery images and still leave the member comments :) Great to have you, I bet you have seen some changes to the site over the years and some amazing Art posted to the Rosity Galleries.

nu-be "Novy Rossiya" is a wonderful new twist on an old theme. I see you use a wide variety of 3D programs. We would love to get a cross-over tutorial on how Poser interacts with them :) Oh, and I agree with you totally the only dumb Q is the one you dont ask! That has been my Motto for Years!!!! :) Hey thanks for stopping by the Printing Forum ;]

EricofSD NightTree is beyond amazing. You have really taken Poser to the next level with this image. Very much like an etching. As with most of us, blending Poser with other programs has become an Art in itself. You blend both programs beautifully.

Hi layingback We look forward to your First Official Rosity Poser Gallery Posting. Good luck with Poser 5, keep playing with it, and hopefully some of the tips and tricks in the backroom will help us all (myself included). I still cling to my comfy Poser 4. Its my security Poser Blanket ;]

Hello there Bobasaur I have the image of Taming Technology running through my head at least a dozen times a day, each time my bad bad bad puter acts-up ;]. Ye Gads 2000 I think we have a winner for the earliest dated member so far :)

Welcome to the realm PointLady I do hope you will send sunshine to those of us stuck in the land of ice and snow :) I understand what you mean about P5. I bought mine before it was even shipped. It sat unopened for several months. I finally upload it to my computer just a couple weeks ago. I too eagerly await the P5 Tuts for guidance. Looking forward to your Gallery Postings.. :)

c1rcle Oh yes, we need a Whole Room just dedicated to lighting! Why dont you start gathering some lighting questions and well see if we can get them answered.

Darkginer Love your ladies, especially "Voluptua", nice to see everyday-people depicted in Poser Art. Hey I think you have a grand idea Damn the Chickens Full Art ahead! ;] Great to have you here, thanks so much for sharing your wonderful talent with us :)

Great to have you here CatDabbler. Ohh and please do click the Edit button on the thumbnails of the images in your gallery that are blank (white square red x). That way you can re-upload your image and the Rosity Comments will still be there :)

Ladynimue :o) Thanks for the kind comment on my pic and generally thanks for this thread. Also I'm pleased to see the way you find a picture at everybody's gallery and say something nice about it :o) You must have seen quite a lot of pictures. I was wondering... When you look at for instance my gallery, what made you look at exactely "Look"? I mean I like the picture myself but it hasn't had many views nor comments and could easily have been overlooked if you didn't look at ALL the pictures (If so, you must have totally square eyes by now ;o) ) So.. Any criteria (thumbnails?) or did you just pick a random pic in each gallery?

This thread made me curious, so I went to my profile to see how long I had been a member. I knew it had been a long time as I've been around since the days of Willow and Grey..... Feb 1999. I don't post a lot in the forums.... do try to help answer some questions... no gallery images simply because everything I do is animations. The only pics I post are frames from an animation or a quick pic of a item of clothing or a prop I have been working. Ed

Hi ernyoka1 The "edited version" of your Q": Why did you pick That Image to comment on?" Thumbnails and a very fast Cable Modem are a great starting point! When Officially viewing the Poser Galleries I view each image! Time permitting I try to leave comments. As a rule though, when viewing for pleasure, I depend almost totally on the thumbs. If you have a great thumb, you have a view from me! Also, there are times I will be drawn in solely by the title. Put up a catchy title and Ill look!. I have my list of favorite Artists, which is forever growing, that I just out-and-out enjoy viewing their works. I seldom look at an image that does not have a thumb. What is it that grabs me about a thumb? As you can guess by my nick (and Rosity Gallery), Im an Arthurian Legends devotee. So any glint of armor, fairy wing, a dragon scale, a unicorn: You pretty much have me hooked for a look! I also love to see new techniques, strange textures, or odd brushstrokes. I will sit at my computer in the early morning hours and open each image in the General What is New Gallery. If I see an artists work that really peaks my interest, I will get sidetracked to their gallery for hours, opening each thumb and really enjoying their images. Not unlike taking a private tour of an Art Museum in your jimmies with no make-up just waaaaaaay fun! As you know, as well as I, that it is impossible to view every image in every gallery. But oh how I love viewing them one image at a time :) As to your image Look, the relationship between the father and son, the old and the new, a passing of wisdom - made me feel good! To me that is what Art is all about Touching the Viewers emotions :) Thanks for the great Q :) ladynimue

As usual, late in answering these type posts. I've been on Rosity since August 2001. I started with Bryce, then Poser and now mostly I do Vue/Poser 4 combinations, along with a lot of 2D elements. I used to post about one a week, but now I post basically one over 2-3 weeks depending on what's going on at the moment or how inspired I am. I dabble in straight 2D and photography as well. To me, the best time to post is Monday afternoon around 3:00pm or so. Wednesday-Saturday has always been a bad time for my work as far as views go, and never on a holiday. I consider Rosity my "web" home, but I only get a chance to read the poser forum itself once in awhile. My problem is I'm interested in too many things at once I guess. :) I have Rosity as my home page and have a browser usually open with it most of the time I'm working or just in the background.

ShadowWind ( ) posted Fri, 31 January 2003 at 2:04 AM

Creating the proper thumbnail is an artform all in itself and it's something I generally agonize with a lot, even more than the artwork. When you don't usually have big breasted women in your images, it's a lot harder to pick one that grabs the audience's eyes. I usually try about 20 different thumbnails before deciding on one and even then, I've changed them out a couple times if I was wrong. Using the whole image depends on what you want to portray or the gallery you are posting in. I find that the Poser gallery seems to like the tease, and so I try to find the most attractive piece of the image, while the Vue gallery for instance likes the full image. It also depends on whether one part of an image can portray what you are trying to "sell" to the audience.

The only rule that I know of is that if there is sexy elements in the image, that is probably your thumbnail. The general audience seems to like women in their pictures and seem to gravitate toward such thumbs. In 2D, my Tale as Old as Time picture was getting buried when I had a picture of the Beast, but when I changed the thumb to Belle, it got lots more views.

With my college course work & other things I have cut back on my renders. I get atleast one gallery worthy graphic done a month. Additional renders when I actually have a minute. Some months may very. Offer only good in Nebraska l
