Subject: Hydralisk Freebie - A complaint.

I'm not the type to really complain about much of anything, but this really bugs me.
I went to download the Hydralisk in Poser Freestuff; it popped up a page with a link to download. and a pop-up banner of some sort. and 2 (yes TWO) "install xupiter" boxes. xupiter, in case you arr not aware, is probably the most hated peice of crap on the planet; it's almost completely impossible to get rid of, if it somehow infects your computer. apparently, the download file was hosted in a yahoo group, because another window popped up saying It needed me to log in to a adult content area.
It looked like a really cool model, but that's just a little to much to pay for a freebie.

xupiter= I got that once and no kidding it took me the longest time to get rid of it. It's terrible. I finally found the damn thing in my programs. I had deleted everything I could find. And it's so weird it wasn't listed on the remove part of windows program list.

Yeah, but it's a really cool model.... I'll contact the maker, see if he has any problems with me sending you the file. I'd still like to make it a posable figure, once I learn a little more about the process. 'You are however free to distribute this model commericial free with the expressed condition that the Author, Tephladon and his email address Tephladon@yahoo.com is somewhere documented with the item during distribution.' From the readme file....I think it would be ok to send it. Got room in your mailbox? Its around 3.5 megs or so.

What is Xupiter supposed to do? (I just called al Altavista search for "xupiter" and it turned up all sorts of irrelevant matter including about the planet Jupiter.)

Attached Link: Info about Xupiter

You should try Google. It's one of a class of "drive-by" activeX controls; it pops up on your screen while browsing, asking to be installed. If you do install it, it completely Hijacks your IE browser, taking over your homepage, search and several other features. It's also EXTREMELY difficult to delete. It's not a Virus. It's almost worse.

Thanks Real Deal Do we need this time wasting trash on our computers? Ad Aware and Internet Clean Up usually deal with most unwelcome Active X. If Xupiter gets by those then it is bad. How about a clean repost somebody if Hydralisk is that good?

Sorry guys but I did not post the hydralisk for download. I took it off the Lightwave download area just under a year ago. There is a 3rd party out there sabotaging the process. It's one of the reasons why I don't post freestuff anymore. This is about the 5th time it's happened on three different sites. I wish there was a way to clear this mess up but once it's on the internet it's damn near impossible to track. If you see any downloads of that hydralisk model, know that I'm not the one hosting it so be on guard because I hate ads and none of my downloads had any ads or redirects to other urls. Very sorry to hear what's going on. :(

I noticed it earlier and recalled it looked like your model. I was thinking maybe someone converted it and maybe you gave permission to post it. From the thumbnail I figured it was yours. After clicking the download button it went to a yahoo group and I always think "What a hassle" I'll have to become a member and so on. I decided to say screw it. It states here in the uploading area you have to give a link that goes right to the download or at least the page with the link. Dont let all this stop you from shareing free stuff though. People are always going to do BS like this. Not many but a few are. I'd even be interested in converting it (bet I could do a better job then a weraz gerk) and posting it the right way here. That is if I you gave me permission. I bet his tail would be cool with Easy Pose.

and this is why I use Netscape 4.2 It's so old that nothing can be run on it ... "Beware self modifying code" Tephladon, is it OK for this thing to be in freestuff if you are not distributing? I can go kill it for ya... Lyrra

I really don't mind sharing it. That's what I made it for, I just don't like it when people do things that defy the goodwill and intent that I started it with. If you have it, by all means share it, but please give credit to the creator. I think that's fair.
