Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 23 7:38 pm)
On the contrary. Poser should run better under WinXP than under ME. I also went from ME to XP ( before I got P5 though) and everything is fine. But XP loves memory and so does Poser 5. How much RAM do you have?

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.
Oh yeah... Turning off the eye candy makes a difference. I forgot to mention it becourse it was one of the first things I did when I got my XP :o) That Lego look didn't suit me.

You have a relatively new computer. I'm surprised since you were previously running Windows ME. In fact, your computer is more powerful than mine. You are a bit light on the memory. You might want to increase the memory to at least 512MB. I have 512MB, and Poser bogs down on me sometimes. I have no crashes at all.
That configuration is exactely like my own, 2Gb P4 ans 256 Mb Ram. No problems. Only difference is that I am using XP Home and I doubt it should be any problem :o) Strange. I've never had P5 crashing on my system. But I must admit that I still mostly use PPP since it IS faster all in all.

I've got XP pro, (no eye candy) fully patched atop a 2Ghz P4, 1Gb of PC2700 DDR RAM and a Radeon 9700pro, and I have to say that since SR 2.1 (available at curious labs site) P5 has been a lot more stable, it's still terminally slow compared to Poser 4.03 running the same scene, but it doesn't crash nearly as much as it did. However it extrememly dangerous to introduce P4 light sets, as that tends to kill P5, and several people have also reported problems with such things as drivers for graphics tablets, printers and CD-writers. you'd be advised to rid your system of any of the above and see if that helps. It is slower than P4 in all respects, but once patched it should be fairly stable, in the time I've used it since the patch it hasn't crashed once, but then you can the number of times I've used it one one hand. YMMV later jb

I recently upgraded to Win XP Pro from Windows ME. I Installed Poser 5 and the program runs exteamly lag and frequently crashes. I am all caught up on the Poser Service Packs and on the Windows XP updates. Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?
