Just wanted to post a pic of a V3 character I've been laboring over. How am I doing so far? Dave

Wow! Striking!

Dave ( ) posted Mon, 03 February 2003 at 12:13 AM

Thanks. My first attempt at a texture for V3

Dizzie ( ) posted Mon, 03 February 2003 at 3:27 AM

the view is not close enough to see any realistic facial texture....unless you didn't use any...

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Mon, 03 February 2003 at 5:53 AM

Might be the hair used... but it looks like a (pretty) boy to me. And yes, I've seen - and known boys with that red lips.

Pretty boy, huh? Dont think so...

Drazic ( ) posted Mon, 03 February 2003 at 12:24 PM

Have you used a bump map for the face?? if so try to scale it down to 50 per cent, that's more natural, now it looks kinda too bumpy The rest seems to be OK, Drazic

Dave ( ) posted Mon, 03 February 2003 at 3:05 PM

file_44258.jpg

Well let's try this. Eliminated the bump map, but I dont think it made a difference.

Lyrra ( ) posted Mon, 03 February 2003 at 3:09 PM

The face looks guy-like to me too. Maybe its the jaw?

Dave ( ) posted Mon, 03 February 2003 at 3:22 PM

I guess I cant see the forest for the trees, cause I think she looks lovely. Dont see the "guy" thing at all. Dave

designodyssey ( ) posted Mon, 03 February 2003 at 7:43 PM

You might try her with different hair or softening the jaw but i'm not sure that will work. i don't know what it is about her but to me she looks like a female impersonator who's just removed his wig .. sorry ..

Is this any better?

Drazic ( ) posted Tue, 04 February 2003 at 10:11 AM

She is getting more feminime, try to scale her ears a little bit smaller, women tend to have smaller ears than men.Change the shape of the eyebrow, it should be more like a curve, and make some imperfections on the skin map. The eyelashes are cool, I really like 'em Drazic

I like her eyebrows the way they are. I'll take the ear thing into advisement. Thanks.

i know this is a strange request but i was wondering if you could keep her morphed the way you like but try her with one of the stock textures that you have please? i've been studying her last night and today for quite awhile and i'm still having difficulty pinning down what it is about her that seems so masculine to me. i thought perhaps trying another texture would help narrow that down .. to see if it is the texture that is doing it, the morphs, or a combination of the two. Another suggestion i would make would be to rework the area of skin above and below the eyes as that, while it may have wrinkles, is normally an extremely smooth area of the face with few, if any, visible pores at all, much less large ones. The pores on the forehead likewise are generally smaller than those say on the cheek or nose area. i'm really not sure if it has anything to do with the jaw itself. Here is something i am playing with and while she has a very square jaw and rather flat face and is stong, she still appears feminine .. i didn't make this texture though(it's Daz). i really am trying to help.

Ok here she is with a different texture...

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Tue, 04 February 2003 at 2:55 PM

I can't help it. I STILL think it looks like a boy...

Ok. Old texture but with different hair...

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Tue, 04 February 2003 at 3:35 PM

Well that hair did a BIG difference! Amazing really, that it would do so much. Much more feminine now. There still something I can't quite pinpoint. Perhaps the eyes. They're so... rolled back... But I don't see how that would make a figure look more or less masculin though. But definately better with that hair :o)

That hair really does make a huge difference .. she looks much more feminine now. Alright this is very weird lol .. but go into your dials and make certain that the settings for the left side of her face(right side of this image) and the right side of her face are the same. What i've been since last night is covering different areas of her face to try to narrow things down and couldn't do it .. but just now i covered up the whole side of her face and there is something weird going on lol .. when i put my hand over the right side of the image(which would be the left side of her face in poser), the side that is remaining looks more feminine, when i cover up the other side, the side remaining looks masculine. When i cover up the nose and mouth with this new hair the eyes look feminine. i think it is something about the mouth, chin, or neck. Or perhaps the bridge of her nose could use the slightest amount of softening and perhaps not quite so squared off through the middle. The cartiledge in our nose once you get past the part between our eyes is more rounded and doesn't really have corners on it(i just felt to be sure lol) But the hair made a huge improvement and i agree with ernyoka that it is pretty amazing that the hair one chooses could make that much of a difference.

Dave ( ) posted Tue, 04 February 2003 at 10:33 PM

Well that's weird because the left and right side are mirror images of each other texture wise. I think the only difference morph wise would be a miniscual amount on dials like eye height and eyebrows. Everything else is symmetrical. Dave

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Wed, 05 February 2003 at 4:28 AM

designodyssey, I agree with you about the two sides. The right side of her face ( left on the picture) is definately more feminine than the other. I THINK it has something to do with the cheek, I can see a difference there. It still amazes me that such very small feature changes could do so much.

I think so looks more feminine at number 22. I really like her, this skin suits her best I think. She's at her best there. Some females have more testosteron that others. other women look more like men and others don't. what is wrong when someone likes a more manlier woman? Nobody is the same and fortunately, and it's better than all the naked vickies in a temple. Just my 2 cents :) Drazic
