The only thing missing is a matrix-like bullet trail.. Great tutorial. The results are awesome.

Thanks for the tute! Makes for a great effect.

Thanks for the technique, pidjy. Flak wanders off wondering how to get an explosion into his next pic

Rayraz: Maybe my eyes aren't what they once were, but I see a bullet trail in the second pic. Nice tut, pidjy.

tjohn, There's a bullet trail alright, but it doesn't have the matrix-effect. Don't get me wrong Pidjy's tut uses a very cool technique with impressive results.

Oops, I hope the king-size image collection doesn't make this sound like a personal offence towards tjohn, because it isn't. I just couldn't resist posting some screenshot's from my favorite movie 8)

Excellent tut pidjy you'll have us all exploding all over the place. Now there's an idea exploding people in the terrain editor with the Matrix bullet effect. ;P Catlin

Rayraz: I'm not sure what might have offended me, so I guess that means I'm not offended. :^) As many times as I've seen the Matrix, I'd forgotten that they used a special digital effect for the bullet trails when Neo goes into "Bullet Time". Pidjy's effect actually looks more realistic, doesn't it.? It looks like the Matrix effect could be easy to do with a glass texture on a flattened sphere and then multireplicate to a path (easier said than done, and a b*tch to render, LOL). Hey, isn't that our AgentSmith in the middle left screenshot from the movie? :^) Tjohn

Awesome work, one the explosion...! Tedious, but I suppose with some experimentation you might even be able to animate it!

Great tut Pidjy, thanks.

Rayraz ( ) posted Tue, 04 February 2003 at 12:02 PM

Tjohn, AS is in the bottom-left corner. The middle left one is another (Nameless?) agent. BTW did you know AS has a whole army of clones of himself? Check out the new superbowl-trailer to watch Neo in some Major AS-kicking (Sorry Agen Smith. LOL). It only shows a few seconds, but with a cool 'time-frozen' part.
