I am having a problem when I load hair, it loads fine and I set figure parent for the hair, but if I do any poses to the figure the hair never moves with the figure! This is so basic (sorry) but I'm new to this and just don't get it!!!! Any advice?? Thanks, vampdog

Some hair is "conforming", so you have to select "Conform to" from the Figure menu. Others have to be parented to the figure's head. Yet others need to be locked after parenting/conforming (select "Lock Figure" from the Figure menu). Yes, it's tricky at first - and can still be a trap for the unwary even later. Something to remember, always select the figure's body before posing, unless you're using a hands or face pose. If the hair still doesn't move correctly, try re-conforming it.

If it's an hr2 file you shouldn't have to parent it, it should automatically parent itself to the head. If it doesn't, don't use Figure Parent, use the parent in the Object>Properties menu. Sometimes, hair will fly up into the air if you change a pose. I've prevented that by selecting the hair, then in Object menu, click on Lock Actor. That's helped for me. If you want to change anything about the hair, like change the morphs or whatnot, be sure to unlock the hair first. If it's a hair object from the Character library, but not conforming, select the hair and make sure you select Body, then use Figure Parent. That should help. If you're using a conforming hair, it will only conform to the figure it was created for. For instance, I use Jim Burton's San Francisco Hair on Michael. It was created for Vicki and will only conform to Vicki. It does weird things if I conform it to Mike. In that case, I just select the hair Body and do the Conform Figure function to his head and it stays put. I hope that helps some. Melanie

Thanks for the tips, I have tried doing all those things and am still not getting the hair to stay, even with the "lock actor" applied! I looked at the files and they are hr2 files. I'm wondering now if the hair file won't work with Poser 5. It's the Yann hair by Neftis (hope I spelled that right!!) and it applies fine, even renders good, in Poser 4 render (Firefly Draft just locks up!!) but it's all down the drain as soon as you move the figure. Any other thoughts on what could be wrong? Thanks

Maybe you could IM Neftis and see if she has a solution to the problem, if it's a P5 thing. Melanie

ya know.... I feel really stupid now but I just realized when you load the figure (aka Michael) there is a box to check "keep props attached to figure". Well I have never done this, and it explains a lot other issues I've had! But by using this function everything works great!! Thanks so much for your imput, it made me slow down and really look at what I'm doing!!!
