Subject: Victoria 3 service pack 1.1.1. 30th of January ?

Orio ( ) posted Sun, 02 February 2003 at 8:00 PM · edited Sat, 30 November 2024 at 4:36 PM

I read mention (on both DAZ's newsletter and on the product page of morph expansion pack) that there is a Service Release 1.1 for Victoria 3. Actually the name reported is "SR 1.1.1" and it is dated 30th of January. So it's really newer apparently. I went to check, but I can only find the same "old" SR1 pack that came out after V (I mean the one that introduced the light blue circles in the thumbnails of V3). So... anyone knows what's going on? 1- have the announcement and notes been published before the new SR has been made available? 2- there is really no new SR pack, and the numbers and dates are wrong/misreported, and only the first SR pack exists? 3- is the new SR pack available somewhere and I can't find it? Anyonw knows the truth about it?

well when i tryed to save the one that is there now it saved in the same directory as the old one and didnt over right it so i think it is the new one the link just says SR 1 it doewnt say anything like the .1.1

sirkrite ( ) posted Sun, 02 February 2003 at 8:50 PM

Doesn't Daz send out an email to let the purchaser of a product that a new update is available?

Orio ( ) posted Sun, 02 February 2003 at 9:05 PM

Magrindell - I'll try to do that then. Yet they should really make it clear which version it is by writing the version number next to it! Sirkite, I never got emails of updates from DAZ. You have to know that links to updates are placed in the FAQ section (not really the most intuitive place to look for them IMHO), and check there for yourself. The DAZ's newsletter sometimes mentions the updates (like with this last case), but most of the times, it doesn't, so if you don't remember to go and check, you may miss some important ones (I for instance missed the update for Greek clothes, which I was really waiting for, and this time, if it wasn't for the V3 update mention, I would have missed the V3-fit updates to Jim Burton's hair - also very important for me). I am usually very appreciative of DAZ, but this time, and with updates in general, I think they have "room for improvement", so to say.

Ok... I think I know what happened here. I purchased the the expansion morph pak Thursday and when I loaded the Zombie morphs and tried to apply the full body morph nothing happened. Well I emailed DAZ and got a response and told them that it didn't seem to work. Well, Ryan emailed me back and asked if I had downloaded the latest release and I said no because it was the same file name and version number (at least on the web site). Anyway, long story short the SR-1 link on the web site and the old file name are actually the new updates. I would also make sure to download the other V3 Service releases (body & head) they seemed to have changed too. ~ brent ~

Jackson ( ) posted Mon, 03 February 2003 at 9:00 AM

Well, I'm confused.

amon_g ( ) posted Mon, 03 February 2003 at 9:12 AM

Um, sorry... I haven't had enough coffee this morning:) Yes, there is an update and it uses the same file name as before.

Orio ( ) posted Mon, 03 February 2003 at 9:25 AM

Well, it's normal to be confused if a new update is linked with the name of the older. Also, it would be nice to have some more information. Like for instance: does the second update need the first? If I install V3 anew, can I apply the second update only, or do I have to apply the first update first, then the second? Really this kind of information should be made clear.

amon_g ( ) posted Mon, 03 February 2003 at 9:30 AM

I agree. I didn't download the 2nd update originally because it had the same file name. But Ryan (DAZ) had asked if I had downloaded the newest update put on the product page on Thursday night. I wish I could give you more details, but I had the first SR1 installed and installed the second (1.1.1) on top of it. I know I've missed many updates simply because I don't check the product pages after I have made the purchase.

who3d ( ) posted Mon, 03 February 2003 at 11:19 AM

Grief. I hoped this was a gag, but a file compare of the main product update shows that it really IS a different update... Maybe they're a bit shy, having released so many service pack files so quickly? Not doing the users many favours.

rbtwhiz ( ) posted Mon, 03 February 2003 at 12:33 PM

I've just finished speaking to those responsible for making the update live... the information regarding the update (1.1) will be changed to reflect the correct information.

Each SR1.1 (base/head morphs/body morphs) contains all files in their respective SR1 along with changes. All changes to the Victoria 3 CR2 and the V3 BLANK CR2 from V3 SR1 remain the same except as follows:

Additional joint corrections have been made on the Thigh and Buttock joints. (Note: measures were taken to ensure that all V3 clothing already selling in our Store will still be 100% compatible with these newest joint modifications)
Some of the Scale Zones for various body groups have been modified to function in a fully adjustable and usable manner, since the Victoria 3 SR1.
Each of the !V3 All Morph INJ/REM poses have been modified so that they look to the source files in the libraries/!DAZ directory. This accomplishes 2 things. First, this allows the Pose directories for each of the Morph Injection/Remove poses to be moved or renamed (without causing the !V3 All Morph INJ/REM poses to cease functioning). The second is that the !V3 All Morph INJ/REM poses are now significantly quicker in adding or removing their respective morphs.

Note: Any Victoria 3 characters/files that have been distributed in Pose format will continue to be fully compatible with this latest Victoria 3 Service Release. Any Victoria 3 characters/files that have been distributed in CR2 format will not take advantage of these latest changes.

same except as follows:

poses to be moved or renamed (without causing the !V3 All Morph INJ/REM poses
to cease functioning). The second is that the !V3 All Morph INJ/REM poses
are now significantly quicker in adding or removing their respective morphs.

Note: Any Victoria 3 characters/files that have been distributed

3 Service Release. Any Victoria 3 characters/files that have been distributed

There was a UVS SR release as well? Question. Months pass. How does one tell which SR1 one has installed?

Jackson ( ) posted Mon, 03 February 2003 at 4:15 PM

what about the V3 male morph pack? If i saved a v3 male cr2 do i need to redo it? and will the original male morph pack work okay on the new v3?

mountainmaster ( ) posted Mon, 03 February 2003 at 4:43 PM

"Each of the !V3 All Morph INJ/REM poses have been modified so that they look to the source files in the libraries/!DAZ directory." Well, that makes my speed INJ poses in freestuff redundant. Downloaded 1424 times. So many of you already had this benefit, right? ;)

PabloS ( ) posted Mon, 03 February 2003 at 6:21 PM

Is there a webpage where we can d/l all the updates from from a single page?

PabloS ( ) posted Mon, 03 February 2003 at 6:44 PM

Attached Link: http://www.daz3d.com/pages/faq/updates.html

I guess this is the next best thing to a single page...

PabloS ( ) posted Mon, 03 February 2003 at 7:00 PM

rbtwhiz and others, Suppose I just spent hours (days) building a character and discover SR1.1. Is there a simple way (that is, without extensive cr2 hacking) to incorporate those changes without rebuilding my custom character?

rbtwhiz ( ) posted Mon, 03 February 2003 at 7:15 PM

who3d,

"There was a UVS SR release as well?"

The minor changes to the UVs are noted as part of SR1, and were made available at the same time.

"Question. Months pass. How does one tell which SR1 one has installed?"

Well, if you've forgotten what you installed, I can think of a couple options off the top of my head:

  • The simplest one being, install the latest service release (again?). It isn't going to hurt even if it's already there (unless you have a habit of modifying original files).
  • Another being, bounce the time/date stamp for the installed files against a) the posted date on the website or b) the creation date (properties) of your local copy of the installer on your machine. If the time/date stamp for the SR1(.1) cr2 is older than the posted/creation date, you need to install the latest service release. And, if it turns out that you didn't need to after all... it still isn't going to hurt anything (again, unless you have a habit of modifying original files).

Jackson,

Yes, but before you do... download the update for the male pak.

PabloS,

Is the figure built from spun up DAZ morphs? If so... take a look at the URLs above. ;) Both of my posts mention something that would make such a task extremely easy.
