Here's mine.. using the colors requested: green, blue, purple, and gold. (It was aching for some red, but I stuck to the color scheme...) Congratulations, Verdie.. this was the longest render I've ever had to do: 12 hours.. on my computer, that's something. (especially seeing as how I just about live on my puter..) Rosh

Thanks everyone. I had fun with this one, despite the interminable render. =) Rosh

This is remarkably similar to some of the strange surrealistic science fiction book cover art that was popular for a bit back in the sixties

WOW, Rosh!!! I'm very impressed with this!! Just beautiful!! Gee, now you know what I go through a lot of the time. LOL Those long renders are a real bitch, aren't they. Hope you let it render while you were asleep. That's what I do and when I wake up and it's still rendering I go CRAZY from Puter withdrawal!!! I can see a lot of work in this; you should be proud of yourself. Verdie : )

Roshigoth ( ) posted Sat, 06 May 2000 at 10:33 PM

That's exactly what I did, Verdie. It was rendering for about 2 or 3 hours before I went to bed, then it was rendering for another hour or so after I woke up (I went shopping, so I'm not sure exactly how long..) Sixty's surrealistic cover art? That'd be interesting to see. =) Rosh

Say, are you going to do a tutorial on this?! ROFLOL I can hardly wait to upload all 200 disks of my stuff into Tosheba and start Bryceing again!! Verdie : )

Roshigoth ( ) posted Sat, 06 May 2000 at 10:42 PM

Tutorial on this? Umm.. Mostly tons of tweaking. No real tricks except taking advantage of Bryce's refraction and using the wonderful multi-replicate tool. Most of the work here is the materials, and I accomplished that through playing around till I found something I liked. Rosh

Just beautiful, Rosh. I'd still like to see a tutorial for a Bryce newbie such as myself...from both you and Verdie. Cris

Oh, boy.. just taking screen shots would probably kill this one.. I could give a few pointers from what I figured out: 1) Reflection and transparency give really neat results. Refraction can also be very fun. 2) Become really good friends with your Deep Texture Editor. It makes all the difference. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to figure out. The best approach is just to pop it open and play around. Save whatever textures you like. 3) Multi-replicate is a wonderful tool. Learn it, use it, love it. Once again, just gotta play around with it (It's under Edit>Multi-Replicate. 4) If you change your mind about an object after multi-replicating, just select all of them using the palette at the bottom and then click Convert to (the double-headed arrow at the top right of the Edit palette) and change it to whatever else you want. (only primitives, though). That's all I've managed to figure out.. The entire picture above was done mostly by playing around and keeping what I liked. Good luck, and have fun. =) Rosh

Hmmm I'm not a huge fan of abstracts...mainly because the ones I've seen seem to jar with whatever they are trying to say. Have to say though...I do like this...it has something compelling about it...yup that's the word..compelling :) Regards Eshal
