Just happened to me today, but only lost about 45 minutes. I get too envolved in the program and forget to save. Your not alone.

antevark ( ) posted Tue, 04 February 2003 at 10:55 PM

i'd say an autosave should be due for the next version....

Having just lost a file I was working on for several hours, these seem essential.

Absolutely!

antevark, An auto-save that saves a 300MB file every minute LOL. That way you would eventually have 4 auto-saves running at the same time while you are thinking 'Why does this wireframe have a refresh-rate of 3 frames per hour? But I agree an auto-save function would be handy if it can be made to be fast.

maybe they could rig it so that it just updates the new changes. dont kno if that would work, but it would be best to include a handy "Autosave Off" button in the interface.

Rayraz ( ) posted Wed, 05 February 2003 at 11:54 PM

That would be the best option yes.

I'm not sure what pains you all, other than what's obvious... Given previous iterations of Bryce, and PC software in general, I'm thankful that it crashes LESS than almost every other program I use!

sdl, I think that its just that it would be nice if the br5 were saved before rendering. I wasn't complaining, actually. - TJ

How about these other stickers: "Every time you don't save, Murphy kills a file". "A save in time, Kills a whine". "Make a change, save a change". "Be brave, tweak and save". "I break for saving files".

lsstrout ( ) posted Fri, 07 February 2003 at 12:32 PM

A file saved is a file earned. The early save gets the pic. Ask not what you can do in Bryce, but ask when was the last time you saved. Save not, want lots. I came, I bryced, I saved.

TheBryster ( ) posted Fri, 07 February 2003 at 7:14 PM

To save or not to save..........what a ridiculous question Romeo! Romeo! Did'st thou save it, Romeo? Ich bin ein Brycesaver
