Yes, you're correct. You can use a standard unzipping utility like WinZip to open them.
You can also disable compression in Poser 5's General Preferences, after which any files saved or resaved to the Library will be in uncompressed form (cr2, pp2, etc.).
Poser 5 also has Python utility scripts that will let you compress or uncompress all of your Library files at once.
I've never been able to unzip any of the compressed files with winzip-- would appreciate someone telling me hw to do it. I dont' have as prob with compressed files now-- though I did 6 months ago-- I have 5 now and cna do it through 5 but I'm unwilling to tell anyone to use Winzip because I was never able to get Winzip to recognise the files. these were fcz, p2z, cmz. Emily...associate the extension, then Winzip will know what to do. When I double-click on a .fcz, for example, a window pops up telling me windows doesn't know what to use to open the file, I select Winzip.exe from the list. If you check the checkbox in this window ('always use...'), Winzip will always be used. Then Winzip opens up a window with the file inside like a regular zip. Now you can deal with it like any other zipped file.
No, this is the path shown in the WinZip window as the "Path" destination. And when I extract (or drag out the file), it complains that the archive file doesn't exist. Maybe it's my WinZip settings? That's alright though, I found the uncompressPoserFile.py script which works with a little loving care - i.e. fixing the two mistakes in it. ;)

Hi! I recently got P5, Ive seen the new .CRZ files instead of the old CR2 files... well I tried to open one with the NotePad but strange symbols appeared... Ive heard these new files are something like a .CR2 compressed or something like that, is this right? and how do I open them? Thanks a lot! ;-)
