Today at 14:00 GMT a coal conveyor on Blyth Powwer Station in Northumberland, UK, was demolished by explosion. I, along with many others, was there to witness the event. I, unlike a vast majority, have managed to catch part of the explosion on camera!!! YEAHHHHHHH!!!! Posted just 17 minutes after the event, it has to be one (if not THE) first internet postings of it happening..... I feel good!!! Mike (",)

Actually, I know to 'outsiders' this probably isn't a big deal, but Blyth Power Station has quite a history, and became a record-breaking station for the amount of time it ran. It was a major employer in the area for many years, but closed 2 years ago. Later this year the four chimneys will also be demolished. Expect me to be there........

Jordy creative critism. GET RID OF THE SEAGUL!!!! IT's stealing the show. I also realize that you were in a rush; but brightning the picture PARTICURLY the flame may not hurt either. BTW do you have another one with more flame? And are you sure you are safe from what ever is around derelict power plats? Bsteph

Lol - Brian, I never even noticed the flipping seagull!!!! Nah, the whole thing was over in less than a second, and the smoke from these explosions pretty much hid the others. (",)

Aww man bummer. Well at least you were quick draw McGraw with your camera and captured the explosion start. Bsteph

Cool shot Jordy, but seriously, how the heck could you miss the bird? First thing I saw!

well, like I said, it was 17 minutes from taking the pic to posting it - I was more concerned with the fact that I had the explosion itself ;) Anyways, I like the seagull, it's obviously been scared into the air by the explosion - sort of a statement about man disturbing nature and being destructive....... erm, even worse considering it was a coal fired power station which had necessitated the raping of the land for years too........ lol (",)
