Well this was fun, and I think the new mappack is a good buy at the sale price.

I really like this scene. The lighting is unique. It has a different mood. Where did you get the wings? Those are great! Melanie

Hi Folks! Half the fun of looking at an image like this is trying to figure out what's in the foreground, what's in the background, and what's in the alpha channel. Bravo!! Peter (Dr Zik)

Yes the wings are in the map-pack. Alpha channel, alpha channel?, oh no I have more to learn....:-).....I just used layers......YIKES is there a beta channel? ....I found the color channels....I did the background using a square and picture of leaves, then the ground a square with texture as a picture of rocks, then I just kept building on that with nozzles, diddled with the layers and then lighting and transparancy....

Hi Folks! Don't fret about it, my friend. An alpha channel is just the empty "background" that many 3D programs, including Poser, set up as a default. You can place an image in them to convey a sense of depth without having to fill your scene with lots of stuff. Layers work with the essentially the same effect. Peter (Dr Zik)

Lorraine, don't worry, I don't have a clue about alpha channels, either. I just know when my image looks good or it doesn't. I'm not all that technical about my work, I just keep at it until it's finished. Melanie :)

Actually the alpha channel is something else entirely... An alpha channel is a specific 8-bit-portion of your image that defines TRANSPARENCY. Think of it as an extra grey-scale image tacked onto your original that defines what areas are transperent and which are opaque. In fact that is exactly what it is, and it turns a 24-bit image into a 32-bit image because of the extra 8-bits of transparency data. (Hope I didn't get too nerdy there...just rying to help.)

Well I really appreciate the additional information regarding alpha channels. The more I hang around the more I learn! Thanks so much! I have some books, I should read more carefully it appears, there just is so much to learn! I would like to say that I understand all of what I read the first time through, but I really appreciate the sharing of information.
