Does anyone else notice that images seem to appear a tad darker when they're posted in the gallery than they do in Photoshop or Painter? Of course, I know that individual moniter settings will affect how something appears, but you would think that images would appear the same when you view them on the same moniter, no matter where they're posted.

I wonder if it's just an illusion based on different background colors? The eye can be fooled very solidly and convincingly by changing the color of a frame.

Oh Ockham, that's a very good point ... and kinda' sychronistic too ... I'm having several rooms in my house painted this weeked, with some very different colors. The ceiling was white, and now it's a taupe with a slight gold hue to it ... when they got half the 10 foot ceiling painted, to stand and actually look at the differences between the two halves almost made your eyes cross, LOL! So, it could be your theory is entirely the case!!

I've noticed it too. I use PSP 7 and sometimes have to use the contrast dial to be able to see the image in the first place. I thought it was just my computer.

Actually I have noticed that my image colors are looking less saturated when I see them in my gallery as opposed to in PS or painter. Especially in the last week or so.

Some time ago I noticed a difference, too. I asked about it in the Photoshop forum and they suggested to turn off color management in Photoshop. I did, and now the situation seems to be better. But as I remember, my problem was that my images seemed lighter in the gallery than in Photoshop.

Sue88- Thanks for that info ! I had color management set at Web Graphics Default, just turned it off and the imge looks just as washed out in Photoshop as it does in my gallery. D*** !
