Well, they'll be coming as soon as we finish their longboats! We'd like to get some feedback on the Viking 'Wave Horse' we're working on. (We'll be doing these with various figureheads as well as a Saxon version). We were inspired to do these by M&M Productions characters and wanted to give them a means of invading! We'd love some advice on how to make some eliments posable, so the sail mast can be taken down ect., but any advice would be greatly received. Thanks for any help, VH PS Modeled in Cinema 4D

This is an excellent model and a superb idea. Not sure how you would manage sails (cause I'm not really Poser-savvy). I would suggest something along the lines of making that bit with multiple parts, and the ability to make specific part visible. I agree that it would be even more appealing to offer multiple variants of that thingy up on the front (i.e. a dragon's head, et.al.). You guys are on the right track with this one! :o) - M

Great model! But would probably take major reworking for Poser, largly due to Poser's ancient geometry handlers (7 years with no changes!) The sail might be taken down with a morph target but what might be better is to use Poser's variable geometry feature so that one dial would bring up a couple of sails in different postions (that would work for mast heads as well). There's some posts on the main Poser forum for doing this.

Thanks for that dan. I think we'll do a test run to Poser soon after what you said and take a look at those postings. Thanks. VH

Thought you might like to see this. Imported to Poser, and it showed up just one problem (so far ) and that's the spike protruding from the prow. Thanks for flagging that dan! VH

great looking ship ! might look nice to throw some random ropes around the maste etc to add soem chaos to it

virtuallyhistorical ( ) posted Tue, 11 February 2003 at 2:55 PM

Thanks TRAVISB. It's certainly going to have plenty of rope on it, but some "random rope" might just work! Thanks, VH
