A little birdy told me that today's your birthday. Have a wonderful birthday!

Oh, thank you. I appreciate that so much. It's been great fun. My brother took me and my mother to see a display at the Natural History museum on the history of dogs and wolves. My mother (who has macular degeneration) with the help of my brother managed to finish a quilt that has been in the making for 20 years...it's cats in bonnets. So, you know, it doesn't get better than dogs and cats for me. :) I even got a copy of the first issue of the CSI comic book. And it rained. I love the fact that it rained on my birthday. So I got everything I wanted plus. A good day indeed. I hope you all had as good a day on my birthday as I did. :)

I do know it should have been my mother and me. And I know you catch those things, Jon. But your present to me is not to correct my weak grammar. The bonnets are in different calico fabrics and each cat is asleep in its bonnet in a different position. The cats are white in honor of a cat I once had named Kismet, who was alive when the quilt was started these many years ago. I was very touched that they made such an effort. I could hardly believe my mother would finish it...her last quilting project. My heart could break at looking at it. Understand that I will never forget when I look at that fabric that my mother who could barely see and my brother who never sewed would go to so much trouble for me. My heart could break at touching it. It was a wonderful birthday.

Perhaps I misunderstood? I thought the quilt was made in the manner of cats, wearing bonnets. It sounded like it would be a very cute quilt. And I can't think of a more loving gift than one made by hand. I had no intention of correcting anyones grammer, I assure you. I just wanted to wish you a happy birthday. Sorry the wires seems to have crossed. jon

I was teasing you, Jon, because I caught my own mistake and wanted a way to correct it. I know you wouldn't have corrected my post. It's very kind of you to wish me well. Please forgive the little tease I had at your expense. I'm very tired. It was a very long day. I'm sorry I wasn't clear about the quilt. The bonnets are those big floppy, gardening hats which are large enough for a little cat to curl up in, or lay against, or stretch out on. Each hat is in a different fabric, with a different ribbon band. And the cats are dozing, as they will (one to each hat) in different positions. It's very pretty...and very dear to me. My mother even had embroidered, long ago when she had sight to do it, a pillow case to tuck the quilt in so it could be protected. And I'm betting that's more than anyone wanted to know about my quilt.

I'm glad you shared your quilt story. I've made a couple and appreciate the work that goes into them. I'm glad you received such a treasure on your special day.
