nplus, that's a really really fine image. Reminds me of my earlier attempts at "zone"...dang tough stuff. But why didn't you post it on the gallery page? When I hit a photography gallery page with my mouse I expect to see pictures like this, images either "previsualized" or as a result of serendipity, but in either case an attempt at creativity. Keep up the good work! -jay
Misha883....I'm not really sure if there is such thing as a "short" zone tutorial ; ) I'll see what I can find or do. Jordy....I threw away my 4x5, stopped using the zone system and started doing snapshots of cats. Jay7347.....I find that I get better feedback by posting in here in the forum...I'm not out for mega hits/ratings, just some decent feedback from people who actually care about photography and not naked DAZ models ; )
"just some decent feedback from people who actually care about photography and not naked DAZ models ; )" Choak sputter cough! Well, I hate to fess up that "naked DAZ models" are the start of what I do most of the time these days. That's the journey of this newspaper photographer/photo illustrator/digital artist. I loved photography but I also love CGI, and find that the possibilities of communicating those crazy ideas inside my head are now nearer to fruition. So, in spite of resembling that remark, nplus I enjoy your work...take care and keep creating! -jay ps. I vow to you you'll never see a naked Vicky in the temple in my portfolio. ;-)
Really nice work....I've only just begun to study the Zone System myself, I can appreciate this image very much.
I am, therefore I create.......

interesting you should mention this. I just this week picked up a book called "The Zone System for 35mm Photographers: A Basic Guide to Exposure Control" by Carson Graves. Haven't had a chance to read it yet. Feels a little more approachable to me than Ansel Adams' The Negative and The Print, but won't really know 'til I read it. -=>Donald

Bright sunny day, so I escaped to the tiny little canyon and worked on my N- exposures. No filters were used, just zone exposure and development techniques.
