Here's the first part.... Set up a scene and render as suggested in the above tutorial. You should have 6 images like the ones in the above pic (resized and layout for web viewing, they should be separate pictures)Attached Link: http://www.debevec.org/HDRShop/tutorial/tutorial4.html
Now make sure you have HDRshop installed and follow the above tutorial. Convert this cross map to a latitude/longitude projection! TADA! Repeat as necessary. Caveat: I can;t test this last step because I use a mac and HDRshop does nor run on a mac. So i can only assume it works. hdrshop: http://www.debevec.org/HDRShop/Ok, here is the $65,000 question. What is the POINT? You have already had to make the scene, render it, turn into a HDR, put the HDR image back into the scene. WOuldn't it have been quicker and looked better to have at step one just added the ball to the scene and it would have reflected that scenery anyay? To me its like driving 50 miles out of your way to avoid a left turn.
nahh, the point is you can add photo objects in without having to render them. For example, I could do things normally not possible in a bryce scene, like add lens flares, or even other objects, like balls, cars, planes, robots, anything you want. Ond because you can blur the image, no DOF is needed once in bryce 5!

This is advanced because I am not gonna explain much: Make 6 faces by following the above tutorial link. Then add in masked objects to the faces using photoshop or equivalent. Convert to an equirectangular map using hdrshop (debevec.org/HDRShop) Then back in photoshop blur that image. Now use it in bryce as a simulated hdri. So you can add-delte any objects you want without worrying about poly count!
