Subject: import poser5?

So when is this update going to occur? anytime soon. The main reason I got vue was so I could import my posers into it. After I got it I found out that I am pretty much SOL until an update happens. Using P4 would be fine ... if I had it. Instead I have p5 :-)

I have had very good success at import PZ3 files from Poser 5. I just make sure all of the content is P4 content and NOT P5 content -- meaning Poser 5 meshes or texturing options. Lynn and I (Castle Dev Group) have both been using this technique.

hmmm I tried that but when I point it at my poser5.exe I get the "You have an invalid Serial .. blah blah blah" ... My copy is legit, but Vue doesn't like it :-)

Oh.. duh! Yeas, you are right. I have both installed. Sigh. Then I think the interim solution is that you export them to OBJ files and import those. That works pretty well for me too.

I also have a question about this. I have poser 4 and 5. I pointed Vue to poser 4, so that works. Now, I make a scene in Poser 5 and the import to Vue is odd. I get some items and not others. My character does not come over, but my props, hair and background items do. I read somepalce that if you open the scene in vue 4 and re-save it, that it will work properly. I tried that but I get a few errors. When opening the poser 5 scene in poser 4, I get a notification that this is a newer version number, however the opening continues. Then, I get a whole bunch of errors where poser can not open the resources it needs for the file. After clicking OK about 30 times, the scene finally opens, but it is basically empty. DOes this mean that the character I am using, is somehow converted to a poser 5 format? I am using Victoria 2 (upgraded from victoria 1) with an outfit from Sharkey, which was for victoria 2. I have not bought ANY poser 5 content yet (aside from what comes with it). Does Poser 5 do something to characters once they are opened in it, which makes them incompatable with poser 4? I'm really bummed as all my previous works were a combo of poser 4 and vue. Without Vue, I am sort of lost. Thanks, --Eryk
