After seeing Zippy's two new civil war freebies that he's just posted got me to thinking. Has anyone made up a single gabbion (?sp?) prop ? A gabbion is those very large cylindrical wickerwork 'baskets' that are filled with earth for protection. I had a vague feeling that I'd seen one around recently, but I can't recall where. Nice work with those two freebies, Zippy...they should also prove useful for medieval seige pics of various sorts.

i haven't seen one,but i just took a look at these two props from zippy and you can make a single gabbion from either of these using the grouping tool and the create new prop option.if you don't know how to do this it's all in the user guide.geep also did a primer on the grouping tool which may tell you how to do this.just do a search in this forum for primer and look for grouping tool primer.

Hey guys. If you want a gabbion then I will make one and post it. You only have to ask. My e mail address is in my readme's - George279@southpole800.freeserve.co.uk I will post up a gabbion as soon as I can and hopefully it will be the right size for you unless you write asking for a specific size. If you would like anything medieval in the way of war features then I could also have a go at that too. e.g. archery shields, or a siege engine...and you get them free from me. Only thing is - please don't ask me to make a tent or clothes (except helmets)!

Thanks for your replies and offers. I hadn't thought of the grouping option...time to dig out Geeps tutorial. Thanks all :)

Hi again. I'm just in the process of posting up these accessories to go with my Civil War props. There are two battlefield sections (same size as the props), a chevaux-de-frise and two gabions, one short, one tall. You can always stretch the gabions to your own sizes, but stretching them too much distorts the basket texture.
