A shot into the mouth of the beast. :) A shot into the entry-side of one of the lith machines at the Times. Here, the negatives are placed onto the plates and the plates exposed by an 8000 watt UV lamp head. Suntan anyone? :) -=>Donald

Last one from the Times. A shot of some of the paper handling robots in their charging rail. The power of these guys is a little deceiving. Most people that see them don't consider the fact that these robots stand almost six feet high, weigh as much as a mid-sized car and can come to a complete stop from full speed in under 4cm while carrying a 2700 pound roll. -=>Donald

The first one looks like a scene from a science fiction horror movie. Creppier. Hehehe... (*

the first has a strange apocalyptic feel to it, kind of like the bridge of a spaceship or something, and they're going into "CODE PURPLE!! CODE PURPLE!!!, or mayhaps CODE BLUE!!! I can't decide what the colour is, my eyes are having a little bit of a sissyfight over it... first is the stronger of the two for me. The second lacks the overall sharpness of the first, and is a lot more muted. Side by side I wouldn't put'em together. The contrast of the yellow lights with the blue in the first works verrrrry well though....

mainly the refraction of the yellow light in certain places as well, that's what makes it really tick.

My S.O. said the same thing. She likes the first one, didn't like the second one. The yellow lights are special non-UV lights (don't want to expose the plates early). The whole platemaking room bugs my eyes (all of the overhead lights are non-UV so everything has a yellowish hue). The light from the UV lamphead is a purplish-blue. Most of the internal UV light is shielded by tinted plexi. Can you imagine starring into a 8000watt light unprotected ... ouch. :) -=>Donald

a few months ago, i found an old flash attachment in my dad's old dresser drawer. I remembered it not really working unless plugged into the wall, and also wondered bout what buttons did what. I finally figure out how to set the flash off by hand, so what do I do? I hold the flash right up against my eyes, a little closer to the left than the right, and pres the button. This blinding lflash of light hits me... the scary thing was the blinding flash didn't go away. Knowing this was a flash, i started to wonder why I couldn't f'in see a thing, everything complete,ly whited out, I mean I literally couldn't see a damn thing. 10 minutes later, my right eye starts giving in, and i can sorta see things, but its all in a washed out green tint, no other colours, the left eye is still blind, though not white anymore, kinda offwhite or greyish. 10 minutes after that I can almost see normally out of my right eye, and my left eye is somewhat better, I can see shapes and shadows. About 45 minutes later, my sight returned to normal entirely. I honestly could never say what I was thinking. I was reminded of this from your last sentence... ry

I'm sorry, but I laughed for 10 minutes after reading this. Still LMAO. I swear to you that sometimes we do things that can only be explained as having a very short bout of insanity. Nothing else can explain it and we've all done something like that. -=>Donald
