I'm working with Bryce 5 and Poser 4 at the moment. I've been provided with a .sit file, but don't know how to use it. Can you help? I'm new to both types of software.

I believe its the Mac version of a .zip file. FWTempest told me about a free program called stuffit that opens these. Maybe he'll pop in and give the link. Sorry, I don't know it. Angela

I think they are the Mac equivalent of .Zip's. If I remember correctly they can be unzipped using stuff-it.

You can get Stuffit expander for windows there, and ang25 and Rayraz are right, it's a Mac compression format. Josselin

Stuffit works great. Opens both sit files and zip files.

hmm..hope they had better luck than me. I downloaded a buncha Caligula's mats (they're a coupla years old, but who turns down free mats from Freestuff?..;), downloaded Stuffit expander, but it didn't recognize them, much less expand them. Of course, maybe I wasn't holding my mouth right either..:| Or maybe my copy's messed up. Hmm..back to the site...back soon

LMAO all these windoze users.... wow... stuffit expander is better then winzip, free, faster, more versatility, and it's compatabilities thru the roof. check in prefs and see how many different formats it can read. the files most commonly used are .sit, .bin, .hqx(usually .hqx.bin), and to a lesser extent, .dmg or img. those last 2 can't be opened at all on windoze, i believe.

yeah, seen all that. I've got..check, 29 days to find all the Mac files I 'mistakenly' downloaded, and start undoing. I'm kinda partial to Winzip though, been using it for a decade and more (first copy was an alpha .98 or something like that..;) Of course, noone has to stop with just one..;) It opened all of Caligula's mats (from 2000), even though Office 2000 'sees' mat files as Access files..go figure..;)
