Subject: Poser use in Cinema4d Questions

I've read through the posts here... and on one hand I'm delighted by what Poser might be, but on the other hand I realize it might end up like my copy of Asymetrix Toolbook and Paradox (old programs I used to use) Nevertheless, I'm really encouraged by reading the examples on the Curious Labs website like The Adventures of Montu miah. I would like to use Poser primarily for rendering in Cinema4d. My question is, should I buy Poser 5 or Poser 4 with the Pro Pack! I would like to use Poser mainly for animating "cartoon-like" sketches. Designing cartoon-like characters in Cinema4d, adding bones and animation to the model in Poser, then exporting them back to Cinema4d for the final render *I saw the tutorial for that type of thing at: http://www.curiouslabs.com/article/articleview/44/1/93/ * Is that type of thing possible? Is Poser 4 with the Pro Pack better for that? Most of the things I want to do are cartoonish, so for most of what I want to do I can't see dynamic cloth and hair doing anything but slowing down my render time even if I could export it. In Poser 5 could you just import the model, add the bones, and then export the .bvh data back to Cinema 4d? Is that possible or quirky at best?

I am no specialist but I think that poser4 with propack has a C4D plugin but poser5 has none. So i guess poser4 with pp would be better.

Cinema 7.3 and PPP work together quite well. I use them together all the time for my animations. With the new release of Cinema you might just look at creating, animating and rendering in Cinema alone. The animation and bones set up in R8 of Cinema is supposed to be much better than R7. I don't have R8 so I can't say for sure, but I have seen some great stuff done with the new release. Ed

You can also use the C4D ProPrack plugin in R8. Takes a little more work (just a little) to initially set up, but then you can also load Poser scenes into R8. Keep your eyes open as I'm working on an R8 plugin to load Poser character files (including obj's) and use the information to rig the character in R8. It will be awhile though, so don't wait for this before trying whatever you can! BYS

Can you tell us exactly how you're getting PPP to work with R8? Thanks.
