My latest very little project Briefs for Mike I modeled them around his package and added a morph to the briefs that will move things up and down for those of you.. like me... that might need it. Comments suggestions anyone Ed

momodot ( ) posted Sat, 15 February 2003 at 8:58 PM

They look great! A Vicki "Calvin Kline" style brief variantion would be super cool too...

Niles ( ) posted Sat, 15 February 2003 at 9:47 PM

Looks good ... except for the waistband. It looks too thick, almost belt like.

Dave ( ) posted Sat, 15 February 2003 at 10:00 PM

Yeah. Thin out the waistband and it looks like you've got a a winner. Got any textures lined up for it?

Hisminky ( ) posted Sat, 15 February 2003 at 10:24 PM

UNDEROOOS! Oh these are cool

cherokee69 ( ) posted Sat, 15 February 2003 at 10:27 PM

These are cool. Like everyone said, the waistband is a little thick. Might also consider making a morph to make the lower in the waist. These are so cool. I hope your going to finish this and post them for us to grab.

EdW ( ) posted Sat, 15 February 2003 at 11:03 PM

Thanks for the comments. I thought the waist band looked a little too thick. It doesn't look that way in Cinema. Funny how Poser smooth things and makes them look totally different. Post a pic in a few minutes of the updated ones. Dave.... Textures?? me... you got to be kidding. I suck at textures.... there is a texture template though. Ed

Dave ( ) posted Sat, 15 February 2003 at 11:09 PM

Well I'm fairly decent at textures. Maybe I can come up with a few. Dave

Here's the updated version... what do you think? I thinned the waist band down with a morph. Ed

magrindell ( ) posted Sun, 16 February 2003 at 7:34 AM

a few morph ideas Fly open closed Erection legs to boxers lol tend pole make a dynamic version Bikini style thong style Jock style little boy style detail detail detail i love them keep us the good work rember daz got where it did today by makeing lots of extras and lots of detail get someone to make a texture package and you have a BIG time winner

pdxjims ( ) posted Sun, 16 February 2003 at 9:38 AM

Morph the waist so it can go lover around this hips. A morph that goes all the way down to the top of the legs on the thigh would be great (just lowering the waistband) Then they could be used for just about anything from a posing pouch to fetish wear. Neat modeling. Look forward to seeing it. If you need a beta tester... (grin).

Thanks for all the comments. I kinda got side tracked and was working on something else. What do you think of these? Ed

file_46255.jpg

Here's a pic from the back. No texture yet. This is the first go at making them conforming. The boots are the ones from Runtime DNA. I kinda modeled the pants around the boots, but the I need to either make some boots or make some morphs for the boots to make them fit around the shin better.

pdxjims ( ) posted Sun, 16 February 2003 at 11:18 AM

Very nice! I'd rather have the briefs, but your stuff is all good. How do you turn these out so fast? I like the back pockets. Same advice here as for the briefs, low rise on the hip. Most Mike pants place them more around the abs or the upper hip. There aren't any low rise pants for Mike. Neat!

Niles ( ) posted Sun, 16 February 2003 at 11:39 AM

they both look great, nice modeling. Idea for the pants, hiphugger bellbottom... Late 60s early 70s rock star ... Rodger Daultry The Who ;)

pj-bear ( ) posted Sun, 16 February 2003 at 4:13 PM

As for the briefs -- I don't think the waist band is too WIDE (vertical dimension), in fact it could be slightly wider, but it did originally seem too thick . Maybe SLIGHTLY lower on the hip, but they are pretty close to realistic in that respect. Primarily, they should be a little higher at the bottom end and better match the position of the crease where the leg bends against the hip and the crotch. Also, they seem a little looser that most guys seem to wear them, except for Brad Pitt in that film about an out of it guitar player. But overall, great!! much needed. Good fit on the pants. I would use them as the older and tigher jeans, myself. In this case it would be a little bit better to have the waist slightly lower the front or slightly higher in the back, and a couple of more belt loops, and larger pockets, some option to narrow the bottoms of the legs.

magrindell ( ) posted Sun, 16 February 2003 at 5:18 PM

hay upload the templates maybe some of us can make you some textures to be included with your stuff

EdW ( ) posted Sun, 16 February 2003 at 5:57 PM

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions. I'll take a look at adding some morphs like you people have mentioned. The only thing I can say for sure is there won't be a dynamic version with this model. They are modeled wrong to make them work with P5. Ed

magrindell ( ) posted Sun, 16 February 2003 at 9:08 PM

you cant use them at all in P5 U_U If only you could all ya would have to do it import it then export it as an obj file then import it again

EdW ( ) posted Sun, 16 February 2003 at 11:06 PM

The dynamic cloth in P5 requires a mesh that doesn't have thickness. The only way I could make these work is to remove the inner layer of polygons. Ed

Dave ( ) posted Mon, 17 February 2003 at 1:18 AM

When do you think the briefs will be available? Are they going to the Marketplace or Freestuff? Well somebody had to ask... Dave

EdW ( ) posted Mon, 17 February 2003 at 4:36 AM

Attached Link: Mike's Briefs

file_46256.jpg

The files are available at my site. They don't pose as well as I would like. I think I should have made some ghost parts, but that's for another day. I added a few morphs.. one to move the waist band down, one to tighten the band around the waist and another to tighten them around the legs. They don't work well together. You will need to tweak the morph settings if you use them all together. I didn't see any need to use them all at the same time. BTW there is also another version that has some shall we say rather adult oriented morphs. If you want this version you will have to contact me. Ed

Goddaaamn! At this rate, I just might HAVE to buy Mike! ;)

pj-bear ( ) posted Mon, 17 February 2003 at 12:23 PM

magrindell ( ) posted Tue, 18 February 2003 at 7:35 PM

well ignore that last post lol it seams i dont know as much as i thought lol i have made it higher res but now it thinks its a prop lol

EdW ( ) posted Tue, 18 February 2003 at 8:26 PM

Making them higher res than they are is only adding to the overhead to use them...and you lost all the grouping and mapping information. Ed

I've just come to think... Would it be awfully difficult to make a pair of those briefs for V3 male? That way he/she could look more like a man. Right now it looks like an eunuch... rather sad really L

Castrated V3 male: Yes, silly, silly. And all those male mammals out there on the market that are anatomically not correct also seem odd to me. Why is that so few people don't think that this is odd, but everyone would think it odd if we had to buy breasts for the females on the side because breasts did not come with the female models? Perhaps Ernyoka, anatomical mutilation seems sad to you and me because we respect nature and truth more than many people do. I am fine with mythical creatures and would like to see more models. But a real human or mammal that is being put on the market should start out with the proper anatomy, and then let the artist change it or cover it according to his or her needs and inspiration. Incidentally, last time I went to the Vatican museum they had removed the plaster fig leaves over the genitals of Greek and Roman statues, and of course Michaelangelo's Sistine chapel paintings do not show mutilated men or women. I think this oddness today is more American than European.

A simple transmap, texture and voila! A posing brief for Mike! You're right about the briefs not posing very well though; they kind of deform weirdly if Mike's thighs are moved more than +5.0 to each side (e.g. in an open legged stance, etc.) Nevertheless, they are brilliant! They are the only conforming underwear for Mike that also accommodate his "package" without resorting to Poser's emasculating "genital off" option. Please consider doing another improved version of the briefs, perhaps also one with a seamless front (e.g. for swim wear, posing trunks, etc.). I am sure that there would be a great demand for them, either Freestuff or the Marketplace! Cheers! ;-D

magrindell ( ) posted Thu, 20 February 2003 at 11:40 PM

WEll when i made it higher reselution it still has all the textured areas still mapped ture there is no color but i think all i need is to figure out how to make them conforming again i have looked at some tutorials and while they are realy good they expect you to have known how to do it already like one says to open the hirearchy editor and do something to the rotation and to parent....HUH? i got as far as makeing the diffrent parts into seprate items and i went to do the next step with the hirarchie editor and have no idea what he wants me to do i looked in the p5 maniual and it says to refer to the p3 tips and tricks maniual....but the p3 editor thingy is diffrent and it too doesnt explain what i need to know i figured i cant makew anything but maybe i can add to someones great works...sigh..maybe i should just give up U_U
