Subject: Looking for Best Victoria 2 Texture Available...

momodot ( ) posted Tue, 18 February 2003 at 2:08 PM · edited Mon, 03 February 2025 at 4:03 PM

Hi. I just bought Victoria 2 Low Resolution for my main figure for reasions of finacial constraints and I am totaly thrilled with it. Now I am looking for a good texture. I have been scoring the web and Freestuff here but with my conect it takes five minutes to download a freestuff page and I am getting nowhere. Can someone point me please? What I am looking for is a scanned texture like the P4 "VickiBuster" rather than a more painterly/sculpted handpainted texture like Paul Halafi or ByteMe with i consider wonderfull but more artistic maybe... I'm looking for glaring realism without any idealization, and no body sculting since the mesh can handle that. Also maybe a point to a good Micheal texture I could reformat to use with the figure. In anycase i'm looking for Freestuff cause I simply have no dough. Thank you!

Eowyn has some GORGEOUS free ones, but I am not sure of the exact link. Something like attic.nl.

Oh i read your post momodot but did not pay much attention you are looking for FREE I haven't seen many scanned type textures for free however there are some great textures in free stuff here or 3dcommune but most scanned type textures are at the various marketplaces may have something to do with the time and effort for the scanned types Yes c1rcle great minds think alike;-)

I've made a texture for Victoria called Odyssey using bits and pieces of other textures (with permission), and it's in my Free Stuff section here. It's a bit similar to Vickybuster (which is also mine), so you might like it. I'm not too sure about Mike textures, although there was one called Bishop that was pretty good. Last place I saw it was at http://www.kindredx.net, but I'm not sure if it's still there. The best texture for the money that I've found is Nordic Mike from DAZ's Platinum Club, but you'll need to be a member to buy him for $1.99. Hope that's of some help. Take care. SnowS

Snow, Vickybuster is absoluty the best texture ever. One reason I don't want to shell out money I don't have is I felt burned having paid for the various P4 textures I had purchased before finding yours (and before quiting my job to be a full-time artist). I've never understood the impulse to sculpt on texture maps rather than just give texture and body hair. Yours just has wonderful poors I was neverable to handpaint. BIG THANK YOU. P.S. I happened to find embedded in a complex Victoria character zip a beautiful male texture mapped for Victoria 2 by Jose Silva at http://js.comicbabecentral.com ...some boddy morphs and a prop penis and vola: Victor

Just a heads-up that many of the free textures are for non-commercial use only, including the excellent VickyBuster I believe. I've been fairly satisfied with the couple Vicky textures I've bought for commercial use - except for the eyebrows, which don't match the level of realism. Does anyone have suggestions for a Victoria 2 texture with nicely shaped eyebrows, not too full or too plucked? Thanks

steerpike ( ) posted Tue, 18 February 2003 at 5:15 PM

For a free texture, I was going to suggest Stenographics' Steena, but the R'osity Stenographics link seems to be dead. Does anyone have an alternative URL? It's a good texture; not fully photorealistic, but not 'idealised' either. Might be what you're after - one caveat, though; I don't have the file to hand, but IIRC, it's a big download - 8Mb plus.

Thanks. Great texture again. Realy great. And I am using the seam guide templates to convert JS's P4 texture though I am SO texture chalenged. Thanks for heads up on usage. I just do this stuff for fun... I supposed if I was making money I could licence comercial stuff :) But again, I like The SnowSultan and the Jose Silva stuff more then the stuff I have bought.

Thank you very much, I'm very glad to hear that you like my textures! I kinda think Vickybuster has big eyebrows now that I look back on her, but I'm still satisfied with how she came out. ;) Vickybuster and Odyssey are for non-commercial useage only because they use parts of other people's textures. If you really need to use them in commercial artwork, you could probably contact the people listed in the readme and ask their permission. I'd still recommend purchasing a StefyZZ or Visual Silence texture if you're going to do serious work for pay though. :) Steerpike, I checked the readme for Steena and no download link or site is given. However, I seem to remember seeing it available through a link in Poserpros' Free Stuff forum a while back. Check it out when you have time, it is a very good texture like you said. Thanks again for the kind words, I'm always glad to hear that my creations are useful. More free stuff is coming soon. :) Take care. SnowS

SonwS this might sound like a silly question, but have you ever thought about converting VickyBuster over to Vicky? Only reason I ask is I hardly ever use posette anymore & miss using your great textures.

SnowSultan ( ) posted Wed, 19 February 2003 at 2:05 PM

Haha, actually I've had more requests to convert Odyssey over to V3. :) LordNakagawa did use his mysterious conversion trick to give me a good head start on doing it though, so hopefully once I get through the three or four other projects I'm buried in, I'll start on that again. Maybe I'll at least try to use more of the elements of Vickybuster in the new Odyssey, since a lot of people seem to like that old texture. ;) Thanks again. SnowS

I used VickiBuster a lot with my P4FemMagic characters (the compression on this image doesn't show it to full advantage). The texture takes tints very well - and I think her eyebrows give her personality - Elisa/gryffnn

SnowSultan I am relatively new to Poser and have to agree that your textures are really great. Thanks for all your hard work and generosity. Cheers Catlin

Yeah and do you know Snow, the Odyssey Rebirth texs still pull some pretty good bandwidth.... amazing stuff. :] Fish

SnowSultan ( ) posted Thu, 20 February 2003 at 10:20 AM

Sorry Fish, I sure hope it's not a problem for you. :) I try not to promote it too much because I know you're the one who has to handle the bandwidth. Let me know if it ever gets to be too much and I'll get it moved right away. ;) SnowS

No no no, you get me wrong dear Snow - that's exactly what I like about it - it matters, people want it! After all, if no-one ever fetched it there would be absolutely no point hosting it, now would there? So promote away if you like :o) :] Fish
