Subject: Is Win Zip supposed to compress the file size?

I finally have my marketplace texture set done, tested and ready to upload thanks to everyone who has helped me make it through the process. I hve zipped it using WinZip 8.1. I have checked "Maximum compression" and the file size is the same in the zip file as it is in the uncompressed folder. Any suggestions on how to make it smaller? Thanks in advance.

Yes, but... Binary files like graphics - textures, bump-maps, etc., don't compress very much because of their nature. Text files, on the other hand, really shrink down when zipped. The zipped "whole" should be smaller in total byte size than the unzipped collection of all the files together. Also, keep in mind that zipping is as much a way of compressing files as it is a way of making a whole bunch of files more easily 'transported' together. If all the files you're zipping are graphics, you're just not going to see much compression.

Basically it won't compress files that are already compressed, i.e jpg's, mp3's and whatnot.
