Subject: V3 to V2 and injections....

SAMS3D ( ) posted Tue, 25 February 2003 at 10:01 AM ยท edited Wed, 27 November 2024 at 5:39 AM

Now I bought the converter to convert my V2 textures to V3, and I should have asked this a long time ago, I used V3 to V2 this morning, and added head, eye etc. injections. My understanding is I was using V3 and all her morphs with V2, and I was using V2's textures and all worked great....and as I ask this question please DarkWhisper don't take offense, but why did I purchase this converter if I have a V2 that will take all of V3's injections, and all my textures for V2 works on V3 to V2? Hope I didn't confuse anyone. Tell me it is because V3-V2 doesn't quite work as well as just V3 alone. Sharen

V3 to V2 can't use V3's body morphs. Feel better? ;-)

V3-V2 only takes the V3 head morphs. so NO V3 body morphs can be applyed. This lets you have V3 head and still wear the V2 clothing. V2 textures will work on the V3-V2 model, but NOT the V3 out of the box. This is why the texture converter is valuable. V2 texture on a REAL V3 and you can use ALL the morphs. plus the added bonus of new V3 textures being able to be converted and used on good old V2. Least that's my understanding.

Tell me it is because V3-V2 doesn't quite work as well as just V3 alone.<< That is my personal experience. Also, that's only a one way trip. Some people also like being able to use V3 textures for V2. Some of the new makeup maps, even I gotta admit, are pretty nice. What I am really looking forward to are plugins to convert even more textures, so that, for instance, I could convert my favorite Michael textures to use with the V3 male. Or Stephanie. The more things we have, the more things we want.

Thank you for that answer, I didn't know you couldn't use the body morphs, but that does make sense now that I think about it. Gotta go convert some more textures now...Sharen

Actually, there are two different V3/V2 models, which is, I admit confusing. One has V3 head on V2 body so she can wear V2 clothing. The other is a remap of V3 to take V2 textures (you have to downlaod a UVS and create a new obj file and then copy the original V3 Cr2 and edit to point to the new object). That version takes all V3 morphs and can use any standard V2 texture. At least that has been my experience.

But the remapped V3 will then be unable to use things like the Second Skin clothing textures, which I'm pretty sure Sharen has.

Yes, Rhaseltine (good memory), I do have them, that is okay, I am using my converter by Dark Whisper to convert textures, I just didn't understand the V3 - V2, but it makes sense, her head injections work but not the body....I got it. Sharen
