Subject: Victoria 3 - Injectors/Thumbnails - Not Poser 4 Compatable?!

Dark_Faction ( ) posted Tue, 25 February 2003 at 9:49 PM · edited Sat, 11 January 2025 at 8:43 AM

I installed Victoria 3, head morphs, body morphs and the high def texture maps into my laptop in poser 4.03 Some intresting things... 1) Victoria 3 loads fine, takes a little bit though 2) Loading the Pose Folder because of all the injectors ate up 377 megs of ram. 3) Morph injectors Could Not be loaded kept popping up error box saying file not found. No morphs were added. 4) No Thumbnails were displayed. Any solutions for this Extreamly BAD Result? PIII 500mHz laptop, 320megs ram (yes when the pose folder loaded up my swap file grew largely.), 5gigs free hard drive space. There is No information at the DAZ site saying Victoria 3 Is Not Poser 4.03 compatable, so whats the deal? I would ask DAZ but every time I send them a Email I NEVER get a responce so im trying to find out if any of you poser 4.03 users have found a workaround for this issue. DAZ Needs to list some System Requirements on items like this. (something that they seem to seriously lack).

Did you get the updates? There's a separate update for each V3 product - V3 base (or upgrade), V3 head morphs, V3 body morphs, and V3 male morphs. I haven't heard of P4 users having any more problems than other users. (V3 is a memory hog so there's been a few problems, but that's to be expected with a product that's packed to the gills.) DAZ is usually quite good about customer service. I'm surprised that you haven't gotten responses from them. Cheers!

Victoria 3 is poser 4.03 compatible. As far as the other stuff I am not sure. I know you have to keep some part of the path intact or the injectors get lost. Thumbnails should be there though unless it is a bad file. Also there were a number of updates which you you should make sure you have. Good luck but it does work in 4.

Yep, works fine with my 4.03 too.

My idea of rebooting is kicking somebody in the butt twice!

yeah i have all three patches and they have been installed too. still no thumbs, and it still says 'cant find file' for injecting morphs.

V3 runs as well on P4 as it does on PPP or P5. I was running P4 on a system similar to yours, but PIII 450 and I was running Win98. Memory handling in P4 Win98 is a problem - it can only get at a limited amount of RAM - something like 125 meg if I remember it right. P4, V2 with all morphs and high res textures put Poser in danger of freezing and with a lean Vic it would after several renders. V3 is a whole nuther world as far as file size, my bet? Poser is choking from not being able to get enough memory. If you are using Win98, I have no idea if you have enough system to handle XP, but Poser 4 is an entirely new program under XP and a gig of RAM.

Lol Very funny Michael who said "boo". hmm. I don't think when I send someone a link to a thread it is suppose to log them on as me. That is pretty scary in itself. :)running back to the shadows again Anton

"it still says 'cant find file' for injecting morphs." I had a similar problem when I first tried to use V3 (in PPP) - turned out I'd renamed and consolidated some of the folders, and some of the V3 INJ & REM files have absolute paths to OTHER inj & rem files hard-wired into them. If the full paths aren't correct, you get this message. Over 30 new folders (so far) really filled up my Pose library. I had to move all my Character MATs to Cameras, my Clothes MATs to Hands, and the rest to the Face library to keep the total under 250. TIme consuming and awkward, but V3 is still worth having. Wish DAZ would come up with some update so I could console & move the !V3 folders to the Light library (that's still under 100 folders).

The update removed the chaining. I don't think the files in Pose care where they are now. It is just !DAZ that has to be where it is expected.

WOW, I hadn't realized that - I'll have to play around with it, once I've finished running CorrectReference against my libraries (haven't run it in a while and I've added quite a lot).

hogwarden ( ) posted Wed, 26 February 2003 at 4:45 AM

In a month or so I'm updating CorrectReference to sort out geometry and injection references as well as textures. So you will be able to rename and/or move ALL the folders for V3 safely. LOL! As soon as I have a moment! H:)

leather-guy ( ) posted Wed, 26 February 2003 at 5:06 AM

H How about adding all the Poser extentions to it? I've got 118 MAT folders for clothing in my Hands library - I've had to rename all the HD2 files to PZ2 for CR to run against them and then back. (Fairly quick with a couple of DOS files in each folder, but doing ANYTHING on the computer (or anywhere else) 108 times in a row and you start wanting to cut corners. :-)) Jerry

I had almost same problem. Thumbs is showing, but when I click injectors nothing changes and no error mesages.

LaurieA ( ) posted Thu, 27 February 2003 at 8:19 AM

I have Poser 4 and have no problems with the morph injections. Don't know what to tell you :o(. Laurie
