First I delete the groundplane. Then I place the camera so that it faces straight up. Then I place a big flattened sphere above it wich reflects the sky "under" the horizon and also shows the sky "above" the horizon. Then I make a cool sky play with the sky-settings. I make a few renders of sky's that look cool and I start playing with layers in PSP. For this image I also used: A mudcrack-image from the Bryce Terrain editor. A reflective sphere with the camera inside it to create bunch of reflected circles. A pattern made in UFX and heavily gausian blurred in PSP. Some custom masks made in PSP. It's very much trial-and-error. I start playing untill it looks cool enough. Usually I start working and I suddenly get an effect wich I think looks cool and I start perfecting it. There's a new abstract in a newer post.
