Subject: Victoria 3 vs. Glamorous Vicky and their wardrobes.

jonfe ( ) posted Thu, 27 February 2003 at 9:04 AM · edited Sat, 08 February 2025 at 10:51 PM

OK, heres the deal : Ive purchased Victoria 3 (along with both MT packs and her active wear outfit) and Glamorous Vicky (who comes with some clothing of her own) and Ive been wondering if there is a quick and dirty way for them to share their wardrobes with full MT functionality. Ive already seen the Glamorous Resort Collection for V3 and I suppose that this is exactly what I need, but I dont feel like paying more for something already purchased, if I can avoid it (besides, I hear that Jim Burton has an upcoming shoe pack for V3 just around the corner and I dont want to miss that, so Im saving my pennies). On the other hand I would definitely pay for an upgrade if one was available, but I understand that the Glamorous Resort Collection for GV only adds some new clothing and some textures; am I wrong ? So my question boils down to this: is there a way to transfer or inject V3 MTs to GV clothing and vice versa GV MTs to regular V3 clothing, like the active wear ? Thanks in advance. Jon

I remember another thread about this and Jim Burton said he would maybe make an update tho those who already bought GV or something like that. It's back a ways. Laurie

After hearing from a lot of customers, I found out than many would be very intrested in using the clothing and textures on both Glamorous Vickie and regular V3, unlike what I assumed. So, there will be (probably next week, I only got it to DAZ yesterday) a "Glamorous Resorts for V3 upgrade for GV". Here is the breakdown on the Resorts Collection, bear with me on this, it is a little confusing: For V3 only, buy the V3 version For GV only, buy the GV version For both, buy the V3 version and the upcomming upgrade. The upgrade will be half the price of the GV only version, incidently. The pic is GV in the dress texture from the set wearing shoes from the upcoming shoe set, BTW, they have a dial that switches in 6 different heels of various height and styles, the same way the Poser 2 figure switches hands, pretty cute, what? I've been waiting for agood time to use that idea on heels! Incidently, while my V3 clothing (mostly) still has the open channels for injection morphs (as I based them on the regulat CR2, not the "blank" CR2), you will only be able to inject morphs for that clothing mesh, the mesh deltas have to be unique to that mesh. But I wanted to leave the option in to support other body morphs, later.

Thanks Laurie for your prompt response. I found the thread you mentioned and it seems that Jim will try to make an upgrade for those who purchased Glamorous Resort for V3 and want to use the additional clothing on Glamorous Vicky too, which is only fair. He also states that an upgrade for those who only purchased Glamorous Vicky and want to use the clothing on regular Victoria 3 would be confusing (which makes sense, I guess; I am getting confused just by typing about it here :). Any chance of someone being able to do this manually ? Jon

You are a good man, Jim Burton.

Thanks Jon! The V3 versions of the set use different mesh, BTW, except for the shoes. If I could have used the same mesh on each I wouldn't have set it up this way. They (V3 and GV) will take the same shoe mesh though, with only different CR2s. Except maybe for flats, as I'm still working that part out. GV in flats? And they said Jim couldn't do flats! ;-)

I'm curious about the confusion surrounding the GV to V3 upgrade idea. I'm one who bought the GV and Resorts packages but would be interested in the greater flexibility offered by being able to use those items on V3. Why would an upgrade for those who bought the V3 version work out but to go the other way be confusing?

jonfe ( ) posted Thu, 27 February 2003 at 10:36 AM

You are welcome Jim ! I just hope I did not open a whole can of worms here : I had figured that the two Resort packages use different meshes, but I hoped that an easy solution would apply. It is great, though, that the shoe pack will fit both V3 and GV; one more reason to look forward it :) BTW, is it possible to apply GV MTs to regular V3 clothing (like the active wear) ? Jon

Jim, I also purchased the GV and GV resorts pack and would also be interested in being able to use it on V3 if you can work it out. Thanks it does look great as usual! Ed

O.K. guys, I rethought the re-think! Here is how it is going to work: If you buy both the GV and V3 versions of the Glamorous Resorts set you will get half-off on the GV version, and DAZ will send you (in effect) the update file I just sent them and the V3 set, so you will not have to actually download the files twice. AND, I understand DAZ has a policy where purchasers get a rebate on any price reduction that takes place for the next 30 days, so previous purchasers of both will also get the discount (You will have to contact DAZ). That should make everybody happy, I hope! Jon- I don't have any of the Active Wear, so I don't know if it has the empty channels or not. If it does that would work.

jonfe ( ) posted Thu, 27 February 2003 at 11:56 AM

Jim, don't worry about the active wear; I'll just try it over the weekend and see :) As far as the Glamorous Resorts set goes, I must confess I didn't quite understand the last settlement you suggested; it will probably make more sense in the morning. Thanks for taking it into consideration, though :) Jon color me confused

Ugh! I cant think straight, so in post #7 by Burton, the outfit on the left in the image can be worn by V3? And if so, what pack(s) must I buy? Regards, E.

E, the hair and running shoes arn't included, but everything else is in the Glamorous Resorts for Victoria III set. Here is Yvette (who is GV scaled to 90%) trying on another combination. Notice her flat feet, which are going to be a free upgrade for Glamorouus Vickie. They are done via a set of morphs and a pose that changes the parameters, there is another to put her back into heels.

Jim, I trust that you are still following this, so let me get this straight: Your last proposal to DAZ is that customers who are willing to buy both Resort Collection packs (one for Victoria3 and one for Glamorous Vicky) should get the GV one at half its regular price. And Those who have already bought both packs (or will buy them before this discount comes in effect) can always ask DAZ for a refund, based on DAZ 30-day policy on price reduction. Am I right ? Jon hoping that last nights sleep actually made the difference

Yep! I talked to DAZ on the phone about this, and they were agreeable.
