I finally made my first wallpaper. I'm brycing for a week now and I made this. I would like to get some replies from you guys. Is not much, but I like it. This program is great. Plus I have a question. I'm going to add my work on my site. I saw on digitalblasphemy.com that the wallpapers from there can be downloaded on different resolution. I saw there wallpapers that have 1024x768, but thay are smaller on the screen. How come???? And when I open them some of them are even bigger then 1024x768. How can I add a wallpaper like this on my page??? What size should I set for it, in order to be used by visitors as wallpapers??? Thanks

To have them in different res, you have two options: 1) you post both images, or 2) you post the bigger and let to the dowloaders the resizing job. Stefano

The size of the images is for you to decide, but the bigger the better, especially when you have images with lots of details. Ild say, anything above 800x600 is good! I agree with Doublecrash, its very good for a weeks brycing! Keep it up! :)

there are still some poor sods out there with monitors that can't handle 1024..bless their hearts ('bless their hearts' is Southern for 'I'm about to say something bad about someone'..;). Some folks with better eyes than mine can actually see 1024x1200, which looks like legal documents to me..;)
as for different sizes, I'm sure it's just been rendered at different sizes, each saved as a seperate file. Found Digital Blasphemy over a year ago..hadn't been by in awhile.
Only thing to remember is to check your image when rendering in large sizes; last one I did looks fine at 800x600..but there's a little too much 'undeveloped property' at 1024x768..;) make sure there's some 'picture' everywhere..;) Another thing might be to keep the complicated stuff from the left hand side of the pic (you don't have anything to worry about here), because for most folks, that's where the icons are..and have enough contrast from their normal colors, so they don't get lost..all I can think of on short notice..;)

Resolutions as a general guideline, are: 800x600, 960x720, 1024x768, 1152x864, 1280x960 and 1280x1024. General trends are indicative of normal user resolutions being in the 800x600 to 1280x1024 range, size your work to cater to the average supported maximum...Most of the wallpapers on my site are 800x600, (although I personaly use 1024x768), I've had requests for the larger sizes also...:)

Check the link above. I use this little freeware prog, it's funny and useful, it can change automaticly your wallpaper chosing from a list you set. It also has some features like the box of the text icons made transparent and the text matched with the overall color of the WP. Stefano

1024x768 (XGA resolution) seems to be the most common these days. It has the best balance of image clarity versus processing power.

But I'm curious on something relating to this topic...

Some would consider this mischievous, a little deviant, or perhaps even a waste of productive time... Has anyone ever played jokes on people by changing their computer's wall paper?

Something like playing around with a company logo (change it slightly in a way that people might not catch it the first time looking at it) or altering the colors of the screen background (result: @#$@%@! Why isn't my degauss working?!) Or the best prank yet using this method... Screen capture their desktop. Then using your fav 2D prog, cut and paste the icons from the screen capture in parts of the screen where they normally don't sit. It's hilarious watching somebody hellbent on trying to delete the "extra icons" from their desktop. (This one even had an admin user scratching his head trying to figure it out. LOL!) 8)

I hope I'm not the only one here who's done this.

sheesh..with the job market nowadays..the last thing I'd fiddle with would be the company's logo..;) besides, it's more fun to rename icons, change admin rights, etc..;) Interesting idea tho...bwuhahahah..;)
